NFL Tips & Betting Preview Week 8 | BlueBet

Washington Redskins at Minnesota Vikings

The 5-2 Vikings are coming into this home game with 3 straight wins as their offence continues to fire. They beat the Lions on the road in Week 7, 42-30. While in Minnesota, the home side has crushed the Eagles 38-20 and Raiders 34-14. Vikes QB Kirk Cousins has 10 touchdowns in his last 3 games and has found his combination with Diggs again. The defence has given up 25 points per game in the last 2 wins but with the Vikings offence firing, the opposition is just trying to keep up.

It's been a pretty woeful season for the Redskins at 1-6 and it probably won't get much better in Minnesota. Wet and windy conditions saw the Redskins shutout last week at home against the 49ers, 9-0. Their offence is one of the worst in the NFL and they'll likely struggle to keep up with the home side in this clash. They have a few injuries at RB as well. But former Vikings QB Case Keenum will be looking for an unlikely upset when he heads back to Minnesota. He led the Vikings to the playoffs a few seasons ago but was replaced by Kirk Cousins.

In the end, the Vikings and Redskins are at different places and this should be a blowout. The home side is looking for the NFC North lead and Washington is in a full rebuild. The Vikings also have a 6-1 ATS record at home and have covered in 5 of the last 7 against the 'Skins.

Stadium Record

The Vikings hold a 6-1 home record since last season and have smashed the Eagles/Raiders in recent home games. Washington last played here in 2014 and lost 29-26.

Head to Head Record

In the last 7 meetings, the Vikings have a 5-2 record.

Best Bet

Vikings -15 $1.87

Cleveland Browns at New England Patriots

The 7-0 Patriots are back at home in Week 8 as they aim for a perfect 8-0 record. Their defence just continues to play at high level after a 33-0 shutout of the Jets. They picked off Sam Darnold 4 times and lead the league in takeaways. While on offence, Josh Gordon is now on the IR with a knee but they picked up Sanu from the Falcons. Sony Michel had a field day against the Jets with 3 scores and he'll have a favourable matchup against the Browns 30th ranked rush D.

Cleveland returns from the bye with a 2-4 record and their chances of a playoff berth are pretty slim. They've lost back to back games against the Seahawks (32-28) and 49ers (31-3). They have improved on the road this season with a 2-1 record. But there's no tougher trip in the NFL at the moment with New England's defence on fire. Baker Mayfield will need to limit mistakes and they'll look to lean on RB Nick Chubb to move the chains.

With the Pats defence playing lights out, we have to like the Under here. They're coming off a shutout of the Jets and the Browns are scoring just 20 points per game. Under is 6-2 in the Patriots last 8 games and they're easily the best defence in the league.

Stadium Record

New England is undefeated in 3 home games this season. Since 2001, the Browns are 0-4 on the road against NE.

Head to Head Record

The last meeting was back in 2016 and the Patriots crushed the Browns 33-13. Overall, the Pats have won 6 of the last 7 meetings.

Best Bet

UNDER 46.5 $1.91

Green Bay Packers at Kansas City Chiefs

The Packers lead the NFC North with a 6-1 record and they're coming off 3 straight wins. Aaron Rodgers absolutely dominated the Raiders defence last week with 6 touchdowns as the Pack thumped them 42-24. Which was without star WR Davante Adams, who will be questionable for this clash. The only question mark on the Packers is their defence, which continues to give up points. But with Rodgers playing at a high level, they're confident enough to outscore anyone.

Credit goes to the Kansas City Chiefs after a 30-6 victory over the Broncos. They lost MVP favourite and franchise QB Patrick Mahomes to a knee injury last week. But their defence stood up with an impressive performance. 2nd string QB Matt Moore will take over and he showed promise last week. They still have a number of attacking weapons with Tyreek Hill back and Sammy Watkins should return from injury. After 2 straight home losses, the Chiefs will be fired up to prove the doubters wrong here on Monday.

Despite missing Mahomes, the Chiefs do have home field advantage and the Packers D hasn't been overly great in 2019. So we do like the underdog Chiefs, especially since they're playing on more rest and the home underdog is a nice bet. They're also 6-2 ATS against the Packers and have won 12 of their last 17 home games.

Stadium Record

Kansas City is 1-2 at home this season with all 3 games going down to the wire. The Packers last played in KC in 2011 which resulted in a 19-14 defeat.

Head to Head Record

The last clash between the two sides was back in 2015 and the Packers won 38-28 in Green Bay. But overall, the Chiefs hold a 6-2 record.

Best Bet

Chiefs +4 $1.96

Miami Dolphins at Pittsburgh Steelers

There are not many positives for the 0-6 rebuilding Dolphins in 2019. On offence, they've scored just 10.5 points per game and will start Ryan Fitzpatrick again. He does give them the best chance to win but he can be prone to turnovers. Defensively, the 'Fins have been woeful against the running game and give up 35.2 points per game (worst in the NFL). So a road-trip to Pittsburgh won't be easy.

With a 2-4 record, the Steelers have to beat the Dolphins if they're looking to reach the playoffs. They'll be fresh from the bye and with a number of injuries, the break was good timing. They were excellent in their last game, defeating the Chargers on the road 24-17 with a 3rd string QB. They won't be happy with a 1-2 home record in 2019 so look for the Steelers to come out and pressure the Dolphins into more mistakes.

In the Steelers last Tuesday game, they allowed just 3 points against the Bengals and this should be a similar type of game against Miami. The Dolphins have a horrible road record recently and the Under has saluted in 8 the last 12 against Pittsburgh.

Stadium Record

Pittsburgh lost by 3 points in their last home game and have lost 2 of 3 at Heinz Field in 2019. Meanwhile, the Dolphins are 1-5 at this venue since the '90s.

Head to Head Record

The last meeting was back in 2017 and the Steelers thrashed them 30-12 at this venue. Overall, the Steelers are 6-2 against Miami.

Best Bet

UNDER 38.5 $2.61
