Premier League Preview Matchday 35
Manchester City vs Tottenham
Manchester City’s title aspirations come under the radar when they host Tottenham. City sit two points behind Liverpool with a game in hand, but any slip up at this time of the season will give the Reds the advantage in the fight for the crown. Both sides will be acquainted with each other after their matchup in the Champions League quarter finals. City’s Champions League exit will sting like never before, after VAR cut their celebrations short with just seconds remaining to disallow a goal and see Tottenham through on away goals. City enter the game in better league form, having won their last nine league games, while the Spurs returned to form with two wins in a row. This could be a tight affair, as has been the case in the rivalry between these two sides. Both teams have won 61 games each in this classic rivalry.
Prediction: Draw @ $5.50
Cardiff City vs Liverpool
There is no easy game for Liverpool for the rest of the season despite the gulf in difference between the two sides. Liverpool are the clear favourites but could be a little wary after some massive games in the Premier League and Champions League. Liverpool, however, will need to be careful of Cardiff who are fighting to avoid relegation. The Bluebirds are two points away from safety, after beating 17th placed Brighton on Wednesday. Manager Neil Warnock said at the start of the season the Bluebirds will need a miracle to stay up. A result against Liverpool will go a long way to making that miracle a reality.
Prediction: Liverpool @ $1.20
Everton vs Manchester United
The honeymoon period is over for Ole Gunnar Solksjaer after a string of poor results. The Red Devils were knocked out of the Champions League and FA Cup in recent weeks and their league form has also deteriorated. Outside noise suggest the pressure is starting to amplify on Solksjaer, but those in the know will understand Solskjaer has gotten the best out of the players at his disposal. United will need to win every game for the remainder of the season if they are to finish in the top four. They will face stiff competition against Everton who will want to bounce back from their 2-0 defeat to Fulham. Prior to that performance the Toffees won three games in a row, including wins against Chelsea and Arsenal. United have won nine of 17 games away games this season, but have lost their last two away fixtures against Arsenal and Wolves.
Prediction: Everton @ $3.20
