EPL Matchweek 10 Preview and Expert Tips

Southampton vs Newcastle – Sunday, October 28, 1am

Relegation battlers Southampton and Newcastle do battle at St Mary’s for an all-important three points.

The Saints have won only one game this season and sit 16th on the table. A 0-0 draw with Bournemouth in their last start is a respectable result given Bournemouth sit sixth on the table. However, with the current predicament the Saints need to start winning.

Pressure continues to mount on Rafa Benitez at Newcastle United. The Magpies sit last on the table, failing to win a game and only accumulating two points. Their 1-0 defeat to Brighton at home was the sort of match they need to win if they are to avoid the drop.

Both sides lack goals and have scored a mere six for the season. Newcastle must start to find results and this could be the beginning of their fightback.

Tip: Newcastle - $3.75

Manchester United v Everton – Sunday, October 7, 3:30am

Manchester United take on Everton at Old Trafford in a must-win match. United sit 10th on the table, while Everton sit eighth.

The Red Devils suffered a heartbreaking 2-2 draw with Chelsea in their last start. United trailed 1-0 at half-time before two goals from Anthony Martial gave them the lead against the undefeated Blues. However, Chelsea scored in the 96th minute to take a point off United.

United put in an improved performance against the Blues but tellingly they only began to attack in the second half. If they find a way to play attacking football from the start of the game they will get the support of their fans who have been quiet at Old Trafford this season.

Everton leaped above United on the table after they beat Crystal Palace. The Toffees needed two late goals from Dominic Calvert-Lewin and Cenk Tosun to claim their third win in a row.

The introduction of Brazilian’s Richarlison and Bernard have added flair to the Everton side, while Gylfi Sigurdsson is in the form that saw the Toffees spend over $50 million to sign him.

Tip: Draw - $3.75

Tottenham vs Manchester City – Tuesday October 30, 7am

Two points separate fifth place Tottenham and top of the table Manchester City ahead of their clash at Wembley on the weekend.

Tottenham are coming off the back of four victories in a row in the Premier League.

An Erik Lamela goal was enough to give Spurs a 1-0 victory over West Ham on the weekend. It was Lamela’s fifth goal in eight appearances for Tottenham this season. Lamela has returned to form following a long spell on the sidelines through injury. He will need to be at his best if Tottenham are going to beat the table-topping Citizens.

City retained their spot on top of the table following their 5-0 destruction of Burnley. City were at full flight as they scored five goals in a Premier League game for the 11th time under Pep Guardiola.

David Silva assisted Sergio Aguero for the 16th time in their careers at City. The pair are now fourth on the table for the league’s most productive partnership, eight behind all time leaders Didier Drogba and Frank Lampard (24 goals).

Both sides have won 60 games apiece against each other and have also been difficult to split in the last five games, with both sides winning two games either side of a draw.

Tip: Manchester City - $1.72
