Day 1 saw some dents put into the women’s draw and we could see more carnage on Day 2. Plenty of Australians are in action on Monday too, including Alex De Minaur, Aleksandar Vukic and Storm Hunter.
LEG 1 – Quentin Halys H2H
A great price on Quentin Halys as he faces Chilean Alejandro Tabilo.
The Frenchman has been in outstanding form leading into the Australian Open and the fast conditions should favour him more than his opponent.
Halys went through qualifying to reach the Round of 16 in both Brisbane and Adelaide, and while the end of 2025 was disappointing, he showed plenty of promise on hard courts 12 months ago.
LEG 2 – Learner Tien vs Marcos Giron Over 3.5 Sets
An all-American showdown as 2025 Next Gen Finals winner Learner Tien faces veteran Marcos Giron.
Giron has started the season in strong form, making the semi-finals in both Auckland and Hong Kong. He also defeated Tien when they met on clay in their only matchup last year.
Tien has improved significantly since then, but it’s hard to see this being decided in straight sets.
LEG 3 – Aleksandar Vukic
Vukic played well here 12 months ago, pushing Jack Draper deep into a third-round battle and defeating Sebastian Korda in the second round.
He also impressed in Adelaide in the lead-up, reaching the quarter-finals, while his Argentine opponent has never appeared in the main draw of a hard-court major — a tough initiation in front of a partisan Australian crowd.
LEG 4 – Jessica Bouzas Maneiro H2H
Bouzas Maneiro stunned Coco Gauff at the United Cup before delivering two underwhelming performances, but the world number 40’s best tennis is high quality.
She faces Storm Hunter, ranked 363 in the world and in the twilight of her career. Since the start of 2022, the Australian is 1–13 against top-50 opponents, and despite home crowd support, it’s difficult to see her getting past the Spaniard.
