Euro 2020: Russia ($4.50) vs Denmark ($1.72) – 22nd June @5am

Three teams from Group B remain in contention to qualify for the knockout stage of Euro 2020, as Russia take on Denmark at 5am Tuesday in Copenhagen.

Remarkably, Denmark, who have lost both games of their campaign so far, can still finish as high as second if they can beat Russia and hope that Belgium can take care of Finland at the same time in Saint Petersburg.

Last game, the Danes were brave but ultimately fell short against a Belgium side who look like serious contenders to win their maiden European Championship.

In an emotionally-charged match following Christian Eriksen’s cardiac arrest in their opening game of the tournament, Denmark lead 1-0 before goals from Thorgan Hazard and Kevin De Bruyne secured a come-from-behind win for Belgium.

Meanwhile, Russia secured their first win of Euro 2020 in their last match after defeating Finland 1-0, thanks to a first-half strike from midfielder Aleksei Miranchuk.

The win sent Russia to second spot in Group B, meaning they will achieve knockout stage qualification if they defeat Denmark in Copenhagen.

The Danes have no choice but to go on the offensive, meaning ex-Cardiff striker Andreas Cornelius will be pushing for a starting position, which might cost Southampton defender Jannik Vestergaard his place in the first eleven.

For Russia, there are no major changes predicted to the team that defeated Finland, although right-back Mario Fernandes is being monitored by team doctors following a nasty landing on his back against the Finns.

Players to Watch

Yussuf Poulsen: The RB Leipzig striker scored his country’s first goal of the tournament in their last game against Belgium. Denmark will need another big performance from Poulsen if they are to secure their passage out of the group stage.

Aleksandr Golovin: The Monaco forward can break Danish hearts and seal Russia’s place through to the knockout stage if he can hit the net in this one.  He’s only bagged five goals in 40 caps for Russia, but he is definitely capable of delivering higher numbers than that, as demonstrated in February when he became the first Russian player to score a hat-trick in Ligue 1.

Key Stats

  • Russia have only failed to score once in their last seven matches
  • Denmark have only kept one clean sheet in their last seven Euro final tournament matches
