Premier League Preview Matchday 36
Liverpool vs Huddersfield
Liverpool are intent on taking the title race right down to the wire, with a win last weekend over relegation-threatened Cardiff ensuring that the onus remains on title rivals Manchester City. The Reds have won six consecutive matches, and have managed to continue performing despite the enormity of the situation becoming more apparent as each week goes by. While it may be tense in Merseyside, things are slightly different for already-relegated Huddersfield. The Championship-bound Terriers don’t have a lot to play for, and in all likelihood shouldn’t pose a massive threat to Liverpool – but stranger things have happened. It will be the second clash between both sides in the premier league this season, with Liverpool defeating Huddersfield 1-0 in October last year.
Prediction: Liverpool clean sheet @ $1.60
Burnley vs Manchester City
Like Liverpool, Manchester City still have it all to play for, as a win against Burnley on the weekend would inch them closer to a second consecutive year of Premier League glory. The Blues have won 10 on the trot and continue to impress, with City star Raheem Sterling providing a weekly dose of magic. After being knocked out of the Champions League by Tottenham, perhaps City have more time to focus and concentrate purely on the title race; as opposed to Liverpool, who reached the semi-finals of the competition and are set to face Barcelona. Burnley will be no slouches either, having a run of four games undefeated and most recently causing Chelsea to drop points in a 2-2 draw. City striker Sergio Aguero will need a big game if the Blues are to gain the three points, having scored in five of his six encounters against the Clarets.
Prediction: Manchester City @ $1.12
Manchester United vs Chelsea
It’s something of a rarity when neither Man United or Chelsea remain in the title race by this point of the season, but the stakes remain extremely high. Always exciting clashes, United and Chelsea both have experienced mediocre seasons, filled with some highs but certainly some lows as well. Despite this, the battle for a place in the Champions League for the 2019/2020 season remains alive, and this battle between the two old foes on the weekend could prove to be the defining match in the race for a spot amongst Europe’s elite. Chelsea will have a point to prove, going winless in their last two Premier League outings, whereas United will want to finish their season under new manager Ole Gunnar Solskjaer with a bang. Both clubs met in fiery circumstances earlier in the season, when a last-minute Chelsea equaliser sparked frantic scenes on the bench, with then-United manager Jose Mourinho getting in a melee on the sidelines at Stamford Bridge. If that was anything to go by, then this weekend’s clash between both clubs will be a massive game.
Prediction: Draw @ $3.30
