EPL Matchday 8 Preview and Expert Tips

Leicester vs Everton – Sunday, October 7, 12am

Three points separate eighth placed Leicester and 11th placed Everton.

Leicester enter the match on the back of three successive wins in all competitions. They will be without Matty James and Demarai Gray, who will both miss the game through injury.

James Maddison has been a revelation since making the switch from Norwich this season and has three goals and two assists to his name.

Everton returned to the winners list following their 3-0 victory against the Fulham. The Toffees entered the match on a four-game winless run, which was ended courtesy of two Gylfi Sigurdsson goals and Cenk Tosun’s first goal of the season.

The last 10 Premier League ties between Leicester and Everton have resulted in three draws, four wins for The Toffees, and three wins for The Foxes.

Expect another close encounter.

Tip: Draw $3.25

Manchester United vs Newcastle – Sunday, October 7, 3:30am

Every game is a big game for Manchester United but this could be the most important of the season.

The Red Devils face the 18th placed Newcastle at Old Trafford in a game that could determine Jose Mourinho’s future at the club.

The Red Devils suffered a humiliating 3-1 defeat to West Ham in their last Premier League match.

Mourinho deployed a 3-5-2 formation and used 21-year-old midfielder Scott McTominay in defence. The gamble proved to be a disaster as McTominay was at fault for the Hammers’ third goal.

Newcastle are one of three teams yet to record a win this season. The Magpies suffered a 2-0 defeat at home to Leicester City and look set to be in a relegation battle.

Manager Rafa Benitez continues to have the support of the fans but his frosty relationship with owner Mike Ashley could signal an end to his time at St James’ Park, should the results not improve.

United are without a win at home in the past four matches in all competitions at the Theatre of Dreams.

Another failure in front of the faithful would be catastrophic.

Tip: Manchester United win $1.40

Liverpool vs Manchester City – Monday, October 8, 2.30am

The top two sides meet for the second week running as Liverpool host the top of the table Manchester City. The Reds dropped their first points of the season in last week’s 1-1 draw with Chelsea. In an even affair, Daniel Sturridge scored one of the goals of the season to secure the Reds a point.

Liverpool’s draw to Chelsea meant Manchester City moved to top of the table courtesy of a superior goal difference. The Sky Blues are coming off a 2-0 victory over Brighton last week. Despite their irresistible form, City will be concerned about their left-back position, as both Benjamin Mendy and Fabian Delph are in doubt for the game through injury.

The Reds were a bogey side for City last season and won three of their four meetings. They were the first team to beat City in the Premier League and knocked the Citizens out of the Champions League.

There was an average of three goals a game in their four meetings last season, but with both sides conceding only three goals in the League this season, expect a tighter affair.

Tip: Liverpool win $2.50
