Sheffield United vs Liverpool
Liverpool will look to extend their perfect start to the EPL season to seven games, as they visit Bramall Lane on Saturday to face newly-promoted Sheffield United.
The Reds made it six from six when they defeated Chelsea at Stamford Bridge last weekend, and were able to rest their stars during a routine 2-0 win over MK Dons in the Carabao Cup during the week.
The stats don’t really bode well for the Blades, with Liverpool winning their past 12 games against newly-promoted sides, scoring 35 goals during those matches, and conceding just four.
An impressive 2-0 away win at Everton last week certainly showcased what United are capable of, although a home loss to Sunderland in the Cup was a disappointing result.
The Blades find themselves in 10th position after six games, which is certainly a pass mark at this stage of the season, although it’s hard to see a way in which the Reds don’t grab all three points.
Prediction: Liverpool -1.0 @ $1.90
Everton vs Manchester City
Now, that’s how you bounce back from a loss to Norwich. Manchester City were at their destructive best against Watford last weekend, putting eight goals past the helpless Hornets.
City led 5-0 after 18 minutes and were nothing short of dominant, which certainly got them back on track following the slip up against the Canaries.
Everton had 16 shots to two and dominated possession 70-30 against Sheffield last weekend, although came away on the wrong side of a 2-0 result.
The Toffees have had a poor start to the season, winning just two games and losing three to sit in 14th place, just three points above the drop zone.
City represents a different challenge this weekend and certainly a major one, with the Toffees winning just one of their past 12 Premier League matches against them.
City should continue to keep the pressure on Liverpool with a win here.
Prediction: Manchester City to keep a clean sheet – Yes @ $2.00
Manchester United vs Arsenal
It’s easily the biggest match-up of the weekend, and arguably the most important matches these two sides will play for a while.
United have won just one match from their past five Premier League games, while the Gunners have just two wins from five.
If Liverpool defeat Sheffield United on Saturday, they would hold a 10-point lead over Arsenal should United triumph, or put a massive 13-point gap between themselves and United if Unai Emery’s side grabs all three points.
At this stage of the season, those gaps are just too big.
Both clubs need a win in order to stick with the top four, and United need the points especially, given they current sit three points behind Arsenal.
To fall six points behind the Gunners and potentially fall outside the top 10 after seven matches, it would be a disaster for Ole Gunnar Solskjaer.
Marcus Rashford will miss the clash as United continue to struggle with fit forwards, and with Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang in form and Nicolas Pepe scoring his first EPL goal last weekend, signs are pointing to a Gunners victory.
Prediction: Arsenal @ $2.87
