Punters have settled on the Robert Smerdon trained Ability in the All Victorian Spring Final at Flemington with BlueBet CEO Michael Sullivan saying he was the only one punters wanted in early betting.
“Ability is rock solid at $3.10 following his impressive win at Flemington last start and he will run around a very well supported favourite,” Sullivan said.
“There has also been some support for the Hayes and Dabernig trained pair in Tashbeeh ($8.00) and Ruettiger ($9.00).
“It is very open field and although there looks to be plenty of chances in the race; the early support for the favourite suggests he won’t be getting out too far in the betting.”
Sullivan said in the Winter Championship Series Final, punters were looking for value with Tasmanian raider Count Da Vinci ($21 to $16) and Petrology ($13) the best backed early.
“This is a very open race with the favourite being another Tasmanian, Tshahitsi at $6.00 but we have five other horses in single figures just a couple of dollars longer than him.”
Sullivan said punters hadn’t been put off by the short quote for the Tony McEvoy trained Royal Symphony in race four either.
“Punters have stepped into the boom colt again with the super impressive last start winner shortening from $1.50 to $1.35 already,” he said.
