2023 NFL Week 9 Betting Predictions

Week 9 of the NFL season begins in Pittsburgh with a crucial AFC clash between the Steelers and Titans.

Tennessee Titans (3-4) at Pittsburgh Steelers (4-3)

The Titans snapped a 2-game losing streak with an important 28-23 win over the Falcons. Will Levis tossed 4 touchdown passes in relief of Ryan Tannehill. DeAndre Hopkins enjoyed the combination with Levis as he caught 3 touchdown passes, for his best production as a Titan thus far. In this matchup, Derrick Henry should be hard to contain in the running game. The Steelers are bottom 5 in the NFL for rushing yards allowed.

The Steelers played in a tough 20-10 loss against the Jags last week. They lost QB Kenny Pickett to injury early on and back QB Trubisky struggled with 2 picks. Pickett is expected to play in this matchup but it's unclear how healthy he'll be. The Steelers offence has struggled as they're just scoring 16 points per game. So it'll be up to their defence to pressure a young QB into mistakes and contain the running game.

The Titans look good value as an underdog if they can control the game in the running game. The Steelers also struggle to put up a lot of points so that should keep the Titans in the contest to cover by a field goal.

Stadium Record

Pittsburgh has won 4 of their last 6 at home. Tennessee has lost 5 of their last 6.

Head to Head Record

The Steelers are 7-3 since 2008.

Best Bet

Tennessee Titans +3.5 = $1.73

Buffalo Bills (5-3) at Cincinnati Bengals (4-3)

The Bills defeated the Bucs on a short week 24-18 and will get some extra rest for this important matchup in Cinci. Josh Allen comes off 3 total touchdowns against the Bucs but this should be a tougher matchup with the Bengals back in form. However, the Bills defence should be the key to stopping the Bengals offence. They've given up just 17 points per game and Cinci has scored 30+ pts in 2 of their last 3.

The Bengals are back in form after 3 straight wins. Last week's 31-17 victory over the 49ers was arguably their best performance of the season. Joe Burrow was the standout with 3 touchdowns and Ja'Marr Chase finished with 10 catches / 100 yards / 1 td. While on defence, the Bengals picked up 2 interceptions and kept the 49ers elite offence to just 17 pts. They'll look for a similar performance against the Bills offence in this matchup.

It's tough to back against the in-form Bengals on their home turf. Last week's win over the 49ers was an impressive performance and they also beat the Bills 27-10 in the playoffs on the road last season. At home, the Bengals are 10-4-1 ATS and 4-1 ATS against the Bills.

Stadium Record

Cincinatti hold a strong 9-1 home record in their last 10. Buffalo has a good 5-2 record in Cincinnati.

Head to Head Record

Since 2005, the head-to-head is tied at 5-5.

Best Bet

Cincinnati Bengals -1.5 = $1.84

Los Angeles Chargers (3-4) at New York Jets (4-3)

The Chargers ended a 2-game losing streak with a much-needed 30-13 win over the Bears last week. Justin Herbert dominated the Bears defence with 3 touchdown passes. While they didn't run the ball with success last week, Austin Ekeler should have a great matchup in this one. The Jets are 31st in the NFL for rushing yards allowed. Meanwhile, the Chargers have struggled against the pass for most of the season. But this is an ideal matchup against Zach Wilson and the Jets 31st ranked offence in terms of passing yards.

The Jets are looking for 4 straight wins when they host the Chargers on Tuesday. They've beaten the Broncos, Eagles and Giants on this streak. The defence has been the key as they've allowed just 14 pts against the Eagles and 10 last week against the Giants. So if they can stop Justin Herbert and the Chargers running game, the Jets could cause an upset.

New York's defence is standing up lately and that should help them contain the Chargers offence. The Under is also 5-1 when they're at home and 9-3 in their last 12 games. The Chargers are also 5-0 against the Under in their last 5.

Stadium Record

New York has lost 4 of their last 6 at home. Los Angeles are yet to play at this venue.

Head to Head Record

The Chargers hold a 4-1 record in the last 5 meetings.
