BlueBet previews the NFL Week 12 action below. Read on for our best bets per game and an overview of the feature games this week.
New York Giants at Washington Redskins
Date: Friday 12:30 pm. Venue: Landover
Odds: Redskins $1.30, Giants $3.69
The Redskins host the Giants on Friday at Landover. We'll provide a betting preview of the game below.
Form Guide:
The 4-6 Redskins are pretty much out of the playoff race after a 1-4 record in their last 5 games. Last week, they let a huge lead slip against the Saints and lost in overtime. The defence is a real concern for them as they’ve allowed 30+ points in their last 4 losses.
Eli Manning and the Giants upset the Chiefs last week in a 12-9 scoreline via overtime. In a disappointing season, they’ll be looking to be the spoiler for teams down the stretch. The offence has been the issue all season as they rank 30th in the NFL for overall scoring.
Head to Head Record:
The Giants have a good record over the Redskins having won 6 of the past 8 meetings. They also won the last meeting, 19-10 in Week 17 last season.
Point Spread:
Washington are 7.5 point favourites in the betting, which does seem high. Especially considering the Giants are 6-2 ATS against the Redskins and 8-3 straight up when playing on the road against them. The Redskins are also just 1-6 ATS at home. So we’ll be taking the Giants +7.5.
Best bet: Giants +7.5 ($1.85)
Total Points:
The total points in this game is a tough pick because of the Redskins defence. They allow a ton of points, but the Giants aren’t a great scoring team. But in the end, the trend in this matchup is the under total points. The under is 4-1 in the last 5 games at FedEx Field between the sides. So we’ll take the under total here.
Best bet: Under 44.5 points ($1.91)
Tip:
Giants WIN ($3.69)
The Giants are $3.69 underdogs but this will be a close affair in Washington. They’ll be confident after beating the Chiefs and we think they’re huge value at this price.
Green Bay Packers at Pittsburgh Steelers
Date: Monday 12:30 pm. Venue: Pittsburgh
Odds: Steelers $1.09, Packers $7.60
The Steelers host the Packers on Monday at Pittsburgh. We'll provide a betting preview of the game below.
Form Guide:
Green Bay head to Pittsburgh in a very tough matchup for Brett Hundley and his offence. They were shutout at home against the Ravens last week and the Steelers D will be an even tougher challenge.
The Steelers are flying at 8-2 and will be fresh after thrashing the Titans last Friday. They’ve won 5 straight games and will be challenging the Patriots for home-field advantage in the AFC. Big Ben is throwing the ball well again (4 touchdowns last game) and the defence is allowing just 16 ppg.
Head to Head Record:
The two sides haven’t met since 2013 and the Steelers won on that occasion 38-31 at Green Bay. In fact, the Packers haven’t won in Pittsburgh since 1970.
Point Spread:
Pittsburgh are obviously favourites for this game and they have been given a 13.5 line to beat. It seems high but they’re still 4-1 ATS in their last 5 games. Without Aaron Rodgers, it’s hard to see the Packers scoring more than 14 points against this defence. Pittsburgh are 4-1 ATS at home as well so we’re backing them in.
Best bet: Steelers -13.5 ($1.87)
Total Points:
The total points will be around 41 points for this game. After the Steelers put 40 points on the Titans, we can see a similar result here. The Steelers will likely score the majority of points and push this into the over total category. The Packers are also 7-1 against the over total on the road.
Best bet: Over 41 points ($TBA)
Tip:
Steelers HT/FT ($1.20)
With no Aaron Rodgers, this will likely be a blowout in the Steelers favour. They have playoff home field advantage to play for and will be hard to beat at home. The main value bet in this game is the line.
Houston Texans at Baltimore Ravens
Date: Tuesday 12:30 pm. Venue: Baltimore
Odds: Ravens $1.32, Texans $3.54
The Ravens host the Texans on Tuesday at Baltimore. We'll provide a betting preview of the game below.
Form Guide:
The Texans season is on the line as they travel to Baltimore for Tuesday NFL action. They sit at 4-6 with a slim chance of winning the AFC South. Tom Savage showed good signs last week as they beat the Cardinals 31-21 at home.
Baltimore are back in playoff contention after shutting out the Dolphins and Packers in their last 2 victories. So the defence will be fired up for another strong performance at home. They are in the AFC wildcard race and this is a crucial game for them.
Head to Head Record:
In the Texans short history, they’re yet to taste victory against the Ravens in Baltimore. They have met in 9 overall games and the Ravens lead 7-2.
Point Spread:
In the point spread, the Ravens start as 6.5 point favourites. They have a good chance of beating this line considering the Texans D allows 26 points per game. While the Ravens D allows only 17. They also have a 6-3 ATS record at home and won 40-0 in their last home game. So we’ll take the Ravens to cover.
Best bet: Ravens -6.5 ($1.89)
Total Points:
The under total does have a good trend in this matchup but the Texans are missing key pieces on both sides of the ball (Watson, JJ Watt). So we’ll be looking at the over total. As mentioned, the Ravens scored 40 points at home in their last game and Joe Flacco should take advantage of the Texans poor pass D. The Ravens are also 4-2 against the over at home and the Texans are 6-2 against the over in their last 8 games.
Best bet: Over 38.5 points ($1.94)
Tip:
Ravens HT/FT ($1.57)
It’s hard to see the Ravens losing this one with a wildcard spot on the line. We’re predicting the Ravens will lead throughout this game and come away with the victory.
