NFL Tips & Betting Preview Week 9 20/21 | BlueBet

Green Bay Packers (5-2) at San Francisco 49ers (4-4)

The injury curse at San Francisco just continues with Jimmy Garoppolo and George Kittle now suffering injuries in a brutal loss to the Seahawks last week. Wilson led the Seahawks offence to a 30-7 lead as the 49ers defence just had no answers for the likes of DK Metcalf. So they'll need to find a gameplan around stopping Aaron Rodgers and his combination with Davante Adams.

Green Bay's inconsistent form continued last week as they went down 28-22 to the Vikings. Their run defence is showing no signs of improvement after they conceded 4 touchdowns to Vikings RB Dalvin Cook. They were also quiet at the trade deadline so this is a massive road game against the injury-riddled 49ers.

The 49ers have plenty of injuries at the moment and it's hard to see them scoring enough points without Kittle. So they'll really look to run the ball against this Packers mediocre run defence. Aaron Rodgers is a real danger for the 49ers defence, especially after a bad loss to Minnesota. But the Packers have struggled at this venue of late. Ultimately, we do like the Under considering the 49ers' injuries and they'll likely slow the game down with the running game.

Stadium Record

San Francisco is 1-2 in their last 3 home games. However, Green Bay is just 1-4 in the last 5 here.

Head to Head Record

The two sides met in the playoffs last year as the 49ers comfortably won 37-20. Overall since 2009, the 49ers hold a 6-4 advantage.

Best Bet

UNDER 49.5 pts (TBA)

New Orleans Saints (5-2) at Tampa Bay Buccaneers (6-2)

The two best sides in the NFC South meet on Monday afternoon as the Saints travel to Tampa Bay. New Orleans kicked off the season with a 34-23 victory over Tampa Bay so a 2nd win would give their chances of winning the division a huge boost. At the moment, the Saints aren't playing their 100% best but the key is, they've won 4 straight games. Last week, they outlasted the Bears in OT after a late field goal got them home, 26-23. With Michael Thomas out with injury, Alvin Kamara is the key to this offence and he's coming off 163 total yards against a strong Chicago defence.

Meanwhile, Tampa Bay struggled to put away the lowly Giants last week in the 25-23 result. But as usual, Tom Brady showed his experience as he led the Bucs in the second half with 19 points. He also made it 3 straight games with a TD pass to Gronk! So with a 6-2 record and a current lead of the NFC South, this is a massive game for the Bucs. Their gameplan defensively will centre around stopping Kamara and limiting mistakes on offence, which was the case in the first meeting of the season against the Saints.

After a 34-23 result in Week 1, we feel this should be another high scoring affair between Brady and Brees. The Over is also 8-2 in the Bucs last 10 home games. Meanwhile, the Saints are 5-0 against the Over and 5-1 when they play Tampa Bay.

Stadium Record

Tampa Bay is undefeated in their 3 home games this season. The Saints are 2-1 at this venue in the last 3 meetings.

Head to Head Record

As mentioned, the Saints beat the Bucs 34-23 in Week 1 and have a 7-3 record in the last 10 meetings.

Best Bet

OVER 52.5 pts

New England Patriots (2-5) at New York Jets (0-8)

It looks like the Patriots dynasty is over after a 2-5 start to the season and it's hard to see them winning the AFC East. But ultimately, a lot of their defensive starters opted out in the preseason because of Covid. Meanwhile, Cam Newton has really no weapons on this offence but just needs to do a better job of limiting mistakes. Last week, a costly fumble by Newton in the last few minutes cost the Patriots the chance of upsetting the Bills as they went down by 3 points (24-21).

There are not many positives to say about the 0-8 Jets, who simply look like a team that has already checked out for the season. While they showed some good signs against the Chiefs last week, the class of Mahomes (5 TD passes) saw them go down 35-9 in the end. Tuesday's game is probably one of their few chances of victory this season so we'll see if the can produce an unlikely upset.

While the Patriots have struggled through a 2-5 record, they should no problem with the lowly Jets. New York is scoring just 12 points per game and concedes 29 ppg. The Patriots have also won the last 8 meetings, including a 33-0 result in the last clash at this venue. Newton and the Patriots running game should be hard to stop and that should see the Pats cover. Otherwise, the Under is a nice bet considering both sides are ranked near the bottom of the NFL in most scoring categories.

Stadium Record

The Jets are 0-4 at home this season. New England holds a 5-1 record at this venue against the Jets.

Head to Head Record

New England is 9-1 against the Jets since 2015.
