2022 NFL Week 5 Betting Predictions

Week 5 of the NFL season begins at Mile High Stadium with a crucial clash between the Broncos and Colts.

Indianapolis Colts (1-2-1) at Denver Broncos (2-2)

The Colts have struggled in the first month of the NFL season with just 1 win in 4 games. They lost to the Titans 24-17 at home last week but beat the Chiefs in Week 3. So it's hard to predict which Colts team is going to show up. An ankle injury to key RB Jonathan Taylor is a concern coming into a short week and that should see the Colts look to the passing game. They rank well in this area in the NFL with the 10th most passing yards. However, they're scoring just 14.3 points per game, which ranks them dead last in the league.

Denver come off a disappointing loss against the Raiders last week as their defence gave up 32 pts. To make matters worse, Javonte Williams injured his knee and that will see Melvin Gordon take over the RB role. He's struggled with fumbles this year so Denver will likely lean on Russell Wilson. He's coming off arguably his best game as a Bronco with 3 touchdowns against the Raiders and he found a combination with Sutton/Jeudy.

The injury to Taylor is a blow to the Colts offence that has been struggling for consistency in the first 4 weeks. A home game on a short week for the Broncos should be a huge advantage and they'll be keen to respond after a bad loss against the Raiders last week. Wilson should get ahold of the Colts D and that should lead Denver to a comfortable victory.

Stadium Record

Denver has won 4 of their last 6 at home. The Colts are 1-2 at this venue since 2014.

Head to Head Record

The Colts are 7-3 in the last 10 meetings since 2007.

Best Bet

Denver Broncos -3.5 = $1.97

Cincinnati Bengals (2-2) at Baltimore Ravens (2-2)

The Bengals overcame the Dolphins 27-15 in Week 4 as Joe Burrow continued his good form with 2 touchdown passes. Their defence was strong as they allowed just 1 touchdown and that will be a key factor as they face the high-scoring Ravens. The Bengals defence has been strong against the run this season as they're allowing just 85 yards per game. Meanwhile, the Ravens D is ranked last in the NFL for passing yards allowed and Burrow should be dangerous with his range of weapons when he looks to pass. They also beat the Ravens in both meetings last season.

The Ravens were up 20-3 against the Bills last week but collapsed in the 2nd half to go down 23-20. It's becoming a bit of a trend for this Ravens that has played better than their 2-2 record suggests. The key will be the Lamar Jackson / Mark Andrews combination on offence and the pair struggled in the wet conditions against the Bills. While on defence, the Ravens need to get pressure on Burrow in the pocket because their pass defence has struggled to contain sides, especially when they get a lead.

This should be a fun game between two rivals that have the ability to score 30+ pts on their day. The Over has a nice 6-3 record in the last 9 meetings and both games last season went Over the total as well. So we're looking for a shootout between Burrow and Jackson.

Stadium Record

Baltimore are 5-6 in their last 11 home games. Cincinnati holds a 2-3 record in their last 5 in Baltimore.

Head to Head Record

The Bengals swept last season's series but the Ravens are 6-4 in the last 10.

Best Bet

Over 48.5 = $1.92

Las Vegas Raiders (1-3) at Kansas City Chiefs (3-1)

The Raiders got a much-needed win last week as they beat the Broncos 32-23. They've had a number of close losses already this season so this is a must-win game against the Chiefs. The key factor will be whether they can establish the run to control the possession and keep Mahomes on the sidelines. Josh Jacobs was a beast last week with 144 yards on 28 carries and 2 touchdowns. So the Raiders will look to run the ball early and often through Jacobs. If that happens, that will help their defence which hasn't been great against the pass.

The Chiefs got revenge over the Bucs for the Super Bowl loss a few years ago as they thrashed the Bucs in Tampa 41-31. Mahomes was at his brilliant best with 3 touchdown passes and Kelce / Edwards-Helaire were excellent as well. Another important factor was their run defence which didn't give the Bucs a chance to establish a running game. It will be a similar game plan against the Raiders as they'll look to force the Raiders into a shootout, which is in the favour of Mahomes.

Kansas City made a statement last week against the Bucs and it's hard to see them slowing down against the Raiders. Their run defence was excellent last week and that will likely see the Raiders struggle to score points. They also have the wood over the Raiders and scored 40+ pts in both meetings last season.

Stadium Record

Kansas City are 9-1 at Arrowhead Stadium in their last 10 games. The Raiders have won just 1 of their last 9 in KC.

Head to Head Record

The Chiefs have owned this divisional matchup with 8 wins in the last 10.

Best Bet

Kansas City Chiefs -7.5 = $1.96
