2022 NFL Week 2 Betting Predictions
Week 2 of the NFL season starts with a cracking divisional clash between the Chiefs and Chargers at Arrowhead Stadium.
Los Angeles Chargers (1-0) at Kansas City Chiefs (1-0)
Justin Herbert tossed 3 touchdowns as the Chargers held on the beat the Raiders in Week 1 - 24-19. An injury to Keenan Allen soured the win but the Chargers look to have the depth to cover him. DeAndre Carter caught a touchdown and so did Gerald Everett. Defensively, the Chargers were excellent in the first half as they conceded just 3 pts. But they'll look to improve their second half efforts against the Chiefs after allowing 16 pts.
The Chiefs started the season with a brilliant 44-21 victory as their offence dominated. Patty Mahomes tore their defence to shreds with 5 touchdowns and he proved the offence can still function without Tyreek Hill. Kelce was the main target with 8 catches, 121 yards and a score. The defence will likely face a tougher challenge against the Chargers but conceding just 7 pts in the first 3 quarters against the Cards on the road is a positive sign.
The Chargers have a good record in Kansas City and this should be a close contest between two of the best teams in the AFC West.
Stadium Record
Kansas City are 8-1 in their last 9 home games. Los Angeles won both games in KC last season and have covered in 5 of the last 7.
Head to Head Record
The Chiefs are 7-3 in the last 10 meetings since 2017.
Best Bet
Los Angeles Chargers +5.5 = $1.78
Chicago Bears (1-0) at Green Bay Packers (0-1)
The Bears started the season with a nice upset win over the 49ers 19-10 in wet conditions. Despite falling behind 10-0, the Bears scored 19 pts in the second half. Justin Fields outdueled Lance with 2 touchdowns and Chicago's defence finished the game stronger. That's a good sign as they head to Lambeau and face a fired up Packers team.
Similarly to last season, the Packers were terrible in Week 1 as they went down to the Vikings 23-7 in Minnesota. Aaron Rodgers couldn't get going as he was sacked 4 times and failed to pass a touchdown. The loss of Davante Adams to this offence was always going to be a tough one. So it will be interesting to see if the Packers can improve on their home turf in Week 2.
The Packers offence isn't the same as last season and the Bears defence comes off allowing just 10 pts. So we're looking for low scoring divisional contest between these two rivals.
Stadium Record
Green Bay holds an 8-1 record in their last 9 at Lambeau Field. Chicago has lost their 6 at this venue.
Head to Head Record
The Packers have the wood over the Bears with 9 wins in their last 10 meetings since 2017.
Best Bet
Minnesota Vikings (1-0) at Philadelphia Eagles (1-0)
The Vikings are 1-0 to start the season after defeating the Packers 23-7. Justin Jefferson was the standout on offence with 9 catches, 184 yards and 2 touchdowns. He should get more opportunities in his matchup with the Eagles defence that struggled with the Lions. The Vikings defence was also a highlight as they rattled Rodgers. Hurts is a different QB but if the Vikings keep him in the pocket, they should be able to put pressure on him.
It wasn't pretty but the Eagles are coming off a 38-35 win over the Lions in Week 1. They were up 31-14 at one stage so they'll look to improve their defensive efforts in the second half against the Vikings. But the Eagles running game could be the key. They carried the ball 39 times for 216 yards and 4 touchdowns. With Hurt's running ability, they're a real threat on the ground. A.J. Brown also made a successful debut with 10 catches and 155 yards.
Both sides can potentially score 30+ pts on their day and that setups what should be a high scoring affair.
Stadium Record
Philadelphia has lost 6 of their last 9 at home. Minnesota holds a poor 2-8 record in Philadelphia.
Head to Head Record
The two sides last met in 2019 with the Vikings winning 38-20 at home. Since 2004, the Eagles do hold a 6-4 head to head record.
