2022 NFL Week 10 Betting Predictions
Week 10 of the NFL season starts with an NFC South rivalry matchup in Carolina with the Falcons looking to regain their lead in the division.
Atlanta Falcons (4-5) at Carolina Panthers (2-7)
The Falcons are coming off a 20-17 loss against the Chargers last week and it was their second straight game decided by a field goal. Despite their 4-5 record, the weak NFC South division means they can still make the playoffs and beating the Panthers is a must. The Falcons key strength is their running game and the return of starting RB Patterson should see them dominate the Panthers mediocre run defence. They don't have a strong passing game but they did give the Panthers plenty of problems a few weeks ago. While on defence, Atlanta are ranked last in the NFL for passing yards allowed but this is a good matchup as they face Walker or Mayfield.
The Panthers are just 1-5 in their last 6 games and come off a disappointing performance in their 42-21 loss against the Bengals. Their key areas to improve on against the Falcons will include their QB play and run defence. PJ Walker had a shocker last week and Baker Mayfield looked much better, so he should get the start. Meanwhile, the defence gave up 5 rushing touchdowns and will face a tough test against Patterson. However, they'll take confidence in a recent 34-31 result against the Falcons in Atlanta. It was a game they shouldn't have won but as usual this season, mistakes hurt them dearly.
These two sides totalled 65 points just a few weeks ago and a short week should see another high-scoring affair. The Panthers D comes off allowing 42 pts and the Over is 4-0 when they host a side with a losing road record. Atlanta are 4-1 against the Over when playing an NFC South opponent.
Stadium Record
Carolina are just 2-9 in their last 11 at home. Atlanta has won 5 of the last 6 games at this venue.
Head to Head Record
The Falcons recently beat the Panthers 37-34 and hold an 8-2 record since 2017.
Best Bet
Los Angeles Chargers (5-3) at San Francisco 49ers (4-4)
The Chargers are 4-1 in their last 5 games and that's despite an injury crisis to their passing game. Last week, they were missing both WRs - Allen and Williams. But they scraped by to win 20-17 against the Falcons. They face a tough matchup against the 49ers run defence so hopefully, Justin Herbert can get some of his key weapons back on the field. On defence, the Chargers run defence is a concern against an upgraded 49ers backfield with Christian McCaffery. So they'll need to improve quickly and force Jimmy Garopualo into mistakes when he drops back to pass.
The 49ers will be fresh for this matchup after the bye last week. Previously, they ended a 2 game-losing streak with a crushing 31-14 win over their divisional rival LA Rams. McCaffrey was impressive in just his 2nd game for the 49ers as he totalled 149 yards and 2 touchdowns. He gets a great matchup against a mediocre Chargers defence and should be a safe target in the passing/rushing markets. Defensively, the 49ers are the best team in terms of rushing yards allowed and that should help them shut down the Chargers running game. They're also allowing just 18 points per game.
Low scoring is the trend with the 49ers involved and their defence should be tough for Los Angeles to score against. Overall, the 49ers are 4-1 against the Under at home and 5-1 when they come off a bye. Under is also 13-6 in Chargers last 19 games following a bye week and they have plenty of injury issues at WR.
Stadium Record
San Fran are 6-1 in their last 7 at home. Los Angeles is yet to play at this venue.
Head to Head Record
The Chargers are 5-2 in the last 7 meetings and won the last matchup in 2018, 29-27.
Best Bet
Washington Commanders (4-5) at Philadelphia Eagles (8-0)
The Commanders 3 game winning streak ended last week as they went down 20-17 against the Vikings. Washington loves a close game as their last 5 have been decided by under 6 points. However, this will be easily their toughest matchup of the season against the undefeated Eagles. Taylor Heinicke has taken over the QB position and forms a nice combination with Terry McLaurin, highlighted by 9 targets last week. So he should be a good target in the anytime touchdown scorer markets. Meanwhile, the Commanders defence has been decent against the run this season and that will be the key to keeping Hurts and the Eagles offence on the sidelines.
The Eagles were a bit flat against the Texans last week but got the job done in the end with a 29-17 result. However, they should be fired up for this divisional matchup and a chance to go 9-0. They already beat the Commanders in Week 3, 24-8. Hurts tossed 3 touchdown passes and that form has continued as the season has progressed. He has a great combination with A.J Brown and Goedert was impressive last week against the Texans. While defensively, it's hard to see the Eagles getting much trouble from the Commanders average offence. The Eagles are giving up just 16 pts per game and held Washington scoreless in 3 quarters in the first meeting of the season.
Philadelphia are the safe bet at home against a Commanders team that they've already dominated this season. The Eagles are 4-0 ATS at home and 5-2 ATS overall. Commanders are just 2-6-1 ATS in their last 9 vs the NFC East and 2-8 ATS in Tuesday games.
Stadium Record
Philadelphia are 7-1 in their last 8 at home. Washington have lost 4 of their last 5 in Philly.
Head to Head Record
The Eagles have dominated this NFC East matchup with 8 wins in the last 10.
