2022 NFL Week 1 Betting Predictions

Week 1 of the NFL season begins with the Super Bowl defending champs at home against one of the favourites for the 2022 title as the Rams host the Bills. On Monday morning, Tom Brady heads to Dallas for a clash with the Cowboys. While on Tuesday, Wilson is back in Seattle to face his former team.

Buffalo Bills (0-0) at Los Angeles Rams (0-0)

The Bills open the season with a tough road matchup against the Super Bowl champs in LA. Buffalo are coming off a solid season last year where they lost in an epic OT playoff matchup against the Chiefs in KC. They were the 3rd best team in the league for points scored and QB Josh Allen is right in his prime. While on defence, they were the top ranked team by points scored and have added former Ram Von Miller to spice up this matchup. The Rams defeated the Bengals in the Super Bowl at this venue but will interestingly start this one as underdogs despite playing on their home turf. They still have the lethal combination of Stafford and Kupp on offence. Allen Robinson also joins the team from the Bears and he should be a solid pickup, especially without the injured Odell Beckham. Defensively, they still have Aaron Donald and getting pressure on Allen will be a key factor for the home side. Los Angeles have an excellent record of covering in the first game of a new season at 7-0. On the flipside, the Bills have lost their last 9 games against Super Bowl champs. With LA playing at home, that should give them the advantage in what should be a great start to the NFL season. Stadium Record Los Angeles have won 4 of their last 5 at home. Buffalo are yet to play at this venue against the Rams. Head to Head Record The Bills beat the Rams 35-32 in 2020 and have won 5 of the last 7 meetings. Best Bet Los Angeles Rams Win = $2.12

Tampa Bay Buccaneers (0-0) at Dallas Cowboys (0-0)

Tom Brady returns for another season at the Bucs and there's high optimism that he'll be able to lead one last run at the Super Bowl. He won't be joined by Gronk who's retired but they still have plenty of weapons on offence - mainly Godwin and Evans. However, injuries have struck their o-line and protecting Brady will be tough. Their defence was solid against the run last year but they'll look to improve against heavy passing teams in the NFC. The Cowboys are looking to rebound after losing a home playoff game against the 49ers at this venue last season. Dak Prescott is back to lead an offence that has lost Amari Cooper and Ceedee Lamb is a bit underdone. So the Cowboys will need to establish a running game early on, which won't be easy against the Bucs strong run defence. However, Prescott should be able to take full advantage of the Bucs pass defence that struggled last year. Another home side as an underdog in this one and the Cowboys do have a good chance of an upset. The 'Boys have a good record in home openers at 4-1 and they only just lost to the Bucs last season in Tampa by 2 pts. The Bucs are looking a bit weaker this season and Dak Prescott has a good matchup against a mediocre Bucs pass defence. Stadium Record Dallas have lost 4 of their last 6 at home. Tampa Bay holds a poor 0-5 record in Dallas. Head to Head Record Tampa won the season opener last year 31-29 but the Cowboys are 7-2 in the last 9. Best Bet Dallas Cowboys Win - $2.15

Denver Broncos (0-0) at Seattle Seahawks (0-0)

The Russell Wilson era begins at the Denver Broncos and the NFL has scripted it perfectly as he'll face his former team in Seattle to kick off the season. Wilson does look like the missing link as the Broncos have a solid offence and a decent defence. They allowed just 18.9 points per game last season and considering the strength of the AFC West, Denver should be right up there with the Chiefs/Chargers. It's likely going to be a rebuilding year for the Seahawks as they've lost Wilson and will start the inexperienced Geno Smith at QB. So they'll need their running game to keep them in games as their ability to score quickly will likely be fairly limited. They'll also be hoping their pass defence has improved as they ranked 31st in the NFL for passing yards allowed last season. The Seahawks defence struggled last year and Wilson should take full advantage in this matchup. As such, the Over is 5-1 in Seattle's last 6 games and the total looks a bit low for this one. Stadium Record Seattle are just 3-6 in their last 9 home games. Denver lost at this venue in 2014, 26-20. Head to Head Record The last meeting was back in 2018 as the Broncos won 27-24. Since 2000, Denver is 6-4. Best Bet Over 43.5 = $1.80
