Sunday NBA Tips – Furphy to Cash In as Pacers Battle Injuries

Just six games on Sunday, with the Celtics and Spurs the clear standouts. The Miami Heat had their last game postponed against the Bulls and now head to Indiana to face a Pacers side that finally snapped a long losing streak last time out.

Miami Heat @ Indiana Pacers

The Pacers are back on the winners list after dropping 13 straight games, staging a come-from-behind win over the Hornets.

Miami, meanwhile, have won five of their last seven but will be bitterly disappointed with their effort last start against the Timberwolves, where they were blown out by 28 points.

Despite being on the road, the Heat enter as hot favourites against a depleted Indiana outfit that currently owns the worst record in the NBA.

LEG 1 – Johnny Furphy Over 10.5 PR

A long list of injuries for the Pacers this season has opened the door for Australian Johnny Furphy to move into the starting lineup.

Assuming Furphy plays starter minutes again, this line looks very achievable. When he’s played 20+ minutes this season, he’s averaged 8.6 points and 5.4 rebounds, covering this PR line in six of seven games.

He’s averaged eight points and 8.5 rebounds in his last two games as a starter, with no obvious reason for his minutes to drop here against Miami.

LEG 2 – Aaron Nesmith 4+ Rebounds

One of the few remaining core pieces from last season, Aaron Nesmith has played well since returning from injury.

Nesmith is averaging 5.1 rebounds across his last 13 games, clearing 4+ boards in nine of those, including four of his last five.

He should find four rebounds here against an up-tempo Miami offence.

LEG 3 – Norman Powell 20+ Points

It’s been an incredible season for Norman Powell, who is averaging just under 25 points per game.

Powell has scored 20+ points in 25 of his 32 games this season and is in red-hot form, hitting that mark in each of his last seven.

Same Game Multi

Powell 20+ Points / Furphy Over 10.5 PR / Nesmith 4+ Rebounds = $3.40

VALUE BET

Andrew Nembhard Double Double @ $3.70

If he plays, this market is worth a look.

Nembhard is listed as questionable, but prior to his injury he was flying as a distributor for Indiana.

He’s recorded double-doubles with 10+ assists in three of his last six games, highlighted by a standout performance against Miami on December 27 where he finished with 15 points and 16 assists.

That makes this a strong price based on both recent form and the matchup.
