NBA Tips & Betting Preview | Tuesday 1st January

Memphis Grizzlies (35-17) at Philadelphia 76ers (30-19)

Memphis come off a comfortable 20 point win over the Wizards on Sunday and will aim for their 4th win on the trot when they head to Philly. Ja Morant was recently added to the West starting lineup for the All-Star game and he celebrated with another dominant outing against Washington with 34 points. He's now scored 30+ in 6 straight outings and will be looking to take advantage in this matchup against Maxey.

The 76ers will be after their 5th straight win on Tuesday against the Grizzlies. Joel Embiid continued his impressive scoring streak against the Kings on Sunday with his 17th straight game of 25 points or more. There will be extra motivation for the 76ers to get another victory after the Grizzlies smashed them earlier this season, 126-91. But with Memphis in great form as well, this will be another challenging matchup.

Memphis look great value in this matchup as one of the form teams in the NBA, mainly behind the play of Ja Morant. The Grizzlies also beat the 76ers by 35 pts in mid-December and they've won 14 of the last 17 meetings.

Stadium Record

The 76ers are 5-1 in their last 6 home games. The Grizzlies have won 8 of their last 11 in Philadelphia.

Head to Head Record

Memphis has won the last 3 meetings and hold a 7-3 record since 2016.

Best Bet

Memphis Grizzlies +3.5 = $1.89

Miami Heat (32-18) at Boston Celtics (26-25)

The Heat come off an epic triple-overtime clash against the Raptors but they couldn't get over the line in the 124-120 defeat. However, Jimmy Butler showed no signs of his toe injury as he finished with a huge triple-double (37 pts / 14 rbs / 10 asts). So he'll need more of the same against Boston, especially with Kyle Lowry out of the lineup. However, there is a question mark over Butler's injury status for this matchup, so that will be something to monitor before tip-off.

Boston are finally above the .500 mark after 3 wins in their last 4 games. Tatum comes off 38 pts / 8 rbs / 7 asts against the Pelicans as the Celtics cruised to a 107-97 victory. Jaylen Brown also added 31 points in the win. With Tatum and Brown firing at the same time, this is great news for Boston as they look to get into the top 6 standings in the East. This will also be a key game against the Heat, who are above them in the standings.

A lot will depend on the injury status of Jimmy Butler and we'd expect the Heat to be cautious with their star player. So considering the Celtics conceded just 78 pts against the Heat in November, Boston looks good value to cover on their home court. They've won 5 of their last 7 at home and the Tatum/Brown combination will likely be the key to another victory.

Stadium Record

Boston has 5 of their last 7 at TD Garden. Miami holds a 4-1 record in Boston.

Head to Head Record

The Celtics won the first meeting of the season 95-78 but the Heat are 6-4 in the last 10 meetings.

Best Bet

Boston Celtics -3.5 = $1.92

Golden State Warriors (37-13) at Houston Rockets (14-35)

Golden State were pushed by the undermanned Nets at home on Sunday but came away with a 110-106 victory. Andrew Wiggins celebrated his inclusion in the West All-Star starting lineup with a team-high 24 points along with 8 rbs / 2 blocks. Klay Thompson and Steph Curry both had off shooting nights but nailed key shots when it mattered in the 4th quarter. So with the Rockets struggling for consistency, the Warriors should have no problems putting up plenty of points in Tuesday's matchup.

The Rockets are having a tough time winning at home with 10 straight defeats on home court and a matchup with the Warriors won't be an easy challenge either. However, the Rockets should get Kevin Porter back at point guard for this clash and he'll improve their scoring ability in what's expected to be a high scoring affair. They'll also look to improve their turnover rate after committing 19 in their latest defeat against Portland.

While the Rockets have struggled to win at home, they did recently push the Warriors to the 4th quarter in a 105-103 result. With Kevin Porter expected back and the Warriors coming off a close win over the injury-riddled Nets, we give the Rockets a good chance of covering as a home underdog.

Stadium Record

The Rockets have lost their last 10 games at home. Golden State are 3-1 at this venue since 2019.

Head to Head Record

Golden State have the advantage over the Rockets with 8 wins in the last 10 meetings.

Best Bet

Houston Rockets +10.5 = $1.91
