2023 NBA May 28 Betting Predictions

The Celtics are looking to complete the sweep against the Pacers on Tuesday in Game 4 of the Eastern Conference Finals. Let's get into our Game 4 preview & predictions.

Boston Celtics at Indiana Pacers (Celtics 3-0)

The Celtics had a solid shooting night in Game 3, hitting 47% from the field and 34.8% from beyond the arc, along with 76.9% from the free-throw line. Despite their decent shooting, the real story was their comeback, driven by a tough defence that racked up seven steals, forced 11 turnovers and blocked 12 shots. Their defence was relentless and played a crucial role in their victory, especially in the final moments of the game. Jayson Tatum was on fire, now averaging an impressive 31.6 points and 9.33 rebounds per game in the Eastern Conference Finals. His consistent scoring and rebounding have been a key factor for the Celtics going 3-0 up.

Jaylen Brown also delivered an outstanding performance, currently averaging 30 points per game in the series. His scoring ability has provided a significant boost to the team’s offence. Jrue Holiday was a defensive hero, making crucial stops and still contributing offensively, averaging 19 points per game. His two-way play has been essential in securing wins. Veteran Al Horford has been clutch in the playoffs, stepping up when it matters most and averaging 14.6 points per game in this round. His veteran presence and experience have been invaluable. Derrick White continues to be a key player, averaging 17 points per game. His consistent scoring and versatility have been vital for the Celtics.

For the Celtics to cover the spread in Game 4, they need to sharpen their offence and capitalise on their shooting opportunities. They have to maintain their high shooting percentages and make the most of every possession. Additionally, continuing their relentless defence will be crucial. Their ability to force turnovers, block shots and disrupt the opponent’s offence will be key to their success. If they can keep up their defensive intensity and improve their offensive efficiency, they have a great chance of extending their winning streak and closing out the series.

The Pacers shot well in Game 3 too, hitting 50.5% from the field, but struggled from beyond the arc, making only 22.7% (5 of 22). They were perfect from the free-throw line (14 for 14) and won the rebounding battle 43-36. However, their momentum faltered down the stretch, partly due to the Celtics' numerous steals and blocks. Boston's defence proved to be too much and it impacted the Pacers' ability to close out the game strong.

Playing without Tyrese Haliburton, who was sidelined with a hamstring injury, made the challenge even tougher for Indiana. Despite his absence, they nearly pulled off a win and may have to figure out how to do it again without him. He's questionable for Game 4 at the moment. Nembard has been a standout, averaging 20 points per game in the series, but he made a critical error that allowed the Celtics to seal the victory in Game 3. Myles Turner has been a force on both offence and defence, averaging 20.6 points and eight rebounds per game in the Eastern Conference Finals. Pascal Siakam also had a strong performance in Game 3, scoring 22 points on 9 of 18 shooting, and is now averaging 24.6 points per game in the series. Unfortunately, Nesmith has not been able to contribute as much as expected, averaging only nine points per game.

For the Pacers to have a better chance in the next game, they need to build a large lead early on. It's crucial that they maintain their focus and avoid making the critical errors that have allowed Boston to rally in previous games. If they can improve their three-point shooting and continue to dominate the boards, they might be able to cover the spread and keep the game competitive. The key will be maintaining their momentum throughout the game and finding a way to compensate for the potential absence of Haliburton.

All three games so far have been close for the Pacers, even without Haliburton. They nearly beat the Celtics in every game thus far despite being down 0-3. While a Celtics sweep is possible, the Pacers won't go down without a fight. Expect this game to be another close one, with the Pacers covering the spread and pushing Boston to the limit.
