BLUEY’S BEST BETS - 16/06/2020
BLUEY’S BEST
- SPOONING ($2.80)
There were some questionable tactics with Spooning last start, with the filly jumping with the field before being restrained to the tail of the field 6-7L behind the leaders. She ran on well to finish just over a length away but certainly left punters scratching their heads. Prior to that, was good in the Adelaide Guineas against a strong field. She led all the way, but was no match for Cherry Tortoni. Expecting a bounce back run here.
- DEVIL DAN ($5.50)
Devil Dan looks a great chance to go back-to-back here after scoring a strong win last start at Kembla Grange. He settled midfield and was hard ridden chasing the leader at the 600m mark, before looming up and getting the better of Admit It during the straight. Up in grade today but the field looks weak, which means he gets another good chance here.
- TAMERLANE ($6.00)
Tamerlane has had just five career starts to date, but has managed to win two races thus far, including a strong win after being gelded last start. He sat just worse than midfield, creeping into the race at the 600m mark before finding room and proving too strong at the end. Still has plenty of upside to come and looks a great chance again here.
BLUEY’S BEST VALUE
- DESERT REALM ($12)
Wide open race here and the value seems to lie with up & comer Desert Realm, who is having just his eighth start for the Busuttin/Young stable. Last start she resumed after a 312-day spell over 1400m at Ballarat, performing soundly to finish four lengths off. Margin doesn’t flatter the performance though, as she was making ground but baulked 150m out. She moves to 1600m here and should be much improved off that first up run. Expecting a good showing.
