- HEMSTED ($7.00)
Favourite Dodecanese comes up very short here & despite having talent, I’m happy to look elsewhere. Hemsted looks a great chance at nice odds from barrier 1 with just 52kg after Julia Presits’ claim. The 6-year-old gelding is deep into his prep, but notched up a strong victory a few starts back in a similar grade & has been racing on rain affected tracks recently. He could give a big sight here and boot clear at the top of the straight.
- VIREN ($2.70)
This race looks an interesting setup, with favourite Viren set to lead them along versus second favourite Apache Belle, who should settle toward the rear. I like the look of Viren in this scenario, butI’m not totally convinced on the booking of Reece Jones, although he does have a strong record at Wyong and gets the gun draw here. Viren also finds herself back in class here and should prove too strong here.
- MARIAMIA ($3.40)
I was sceptical of Mariamia last start after she had recorded a very biased 7 length victory at Moonee Valley the start prior. She did revert back to the mean on a more level track, but encouragingly still ran very well, finishing just half-a-length away up in grade at Pakenham. Drops back in grade here slightly and looks like she will hold her form here. Should be right there once again.

- TANKER ($9.00)
Tanker looks a solid bet at the current quote in this field, despite up & comer Snitzonfire looking hard to beat. Tanker scored a dominant all-the-way victory at Bendigo two starts back in BM78 grade, and was able to back that up with a solid second placing at Sandown last start. Draws a nice barrier here and should settle handy. Shouldn’t be too far away at the finish.
