- UNDER MY SPELL ($5.00)
Under My Spell has had an interesting preparation thus far; he finished second in his first two starts before heading over to Morphettville to contest a much harder race at an unfamiliar distance of 2000m. He failed completely there, but then returned to Ballarat Synthetic last start and scored an impressive 3.3L victory. I think a similar run today would see him go very close here.
- THE DIFFERENCE ($6.00)
Loveplanet comes into this as a short $3 favourite after a promising opening prep, however, he looks extremely short here, so I’m happy to risk him. The Difference looks an attractive bet here; he’s third up for the McEvoy stable and looks ready to win now. He was contesting BM90 contests prep and this looks a nice setup for him.
CANTERBURY RACE 7 – 16:20 AEST
- WAIRERE FALLS ($3.60)
Wairere Falls looks the one to beat here for me. He’s been in terrific form this prep, scoring three placings from four runs. The one blip came last start at Rosehill, where he settled 10th of 11 runners and flew home to finish 5th, just 2.3L away. He looks to get a much more favourable run here and can finish over the top of this field.
BLUEY’S BEST VALUE
- BETTER KICK ($9)
Better Kick resumed last start in impressive fashion, scoring a 0.75L victory on the Ballarat Synthetic track. He was slow out but improved during the race before straightening up and proving too strong late. Jumps up to BM70 grade here, but I think with a more positive ride here today, he’ll be able to handle the step up. Has plenty of upside to come.
