- DJANGO FREEMAN ($4.40)
Made a huge step up in class last start at Flemington, jumping from Handicap grade all the way to Group 1. He was up against the very best there in Verry Elleegant and was far from disgraced, finishing just 2.7L away. He’ll appreciate coming up against an easier field here and with a positive map, he could prove hard to get past in the straight.
- GRAND PROMENADE ($2.65)
Was superb last prep, scoring four wins from just seven runs. All of these wins came after stepping out to 1700m and beyond after two solid lead in runs. He’s had two solid hit outs to begin this prep and now gets a chance to step out to 2000m third up. He’s hit the line very well in both runs and looks ready to win now.
- CADRE DU NOIR ($4.00)
Has been ultra consistent so far this prep, finishing no worse than 0.4L away from the winner in all four starts. He also scored a brilliant 5L win at Sandown two starts back. He looks to get all the favours out in front today with a lack of speed engaged. Has been freshened since last start and still has plenty of upside left to come.
BLUEY’S BEST VALUE
- DESPATCH ($13)
Has underperformed in recent times, notably not having won since his Group 1 success in the Goodwood back in May 2019. In most of his races however, he has been racing at Group class level, so the step back to Listed grade here should be much more suitable. His two runs this prep have indicated he is in good form and he might be ready to score a surprise win here third up.
