BLUEY’S BEST
- BUFFALO RIVER ($3.30)
Buffalo River looks a strong chance here, dropping back to listed grade after contesting Group contests in his past four runs. He was first up last start in the Group 1 Rupert Clarke and was found wanting late, dropping out to finish 3.8L away. This is much easier and he gets the booking of Damien Oliver, who has scored four wins from five starts on the gelding. Should run well here.
- SEPTEMBER RUN ($3.10)
September Run possesses an electric turn of foot, but sometimes is her own worst enemy with where she ends up in races. Her last two runs have been at the unsuitable Moonee Valley track, where she hasn’t had a chance to fully extend. She gets to Caulfield, which is a plus and there looks to be a lot of pace up front in this, which will suit her. Look for her to finish over the top of them.
- MIRRA VISION ($5.00)
Mirra Vision looks hard to beat here; the Snowden-trained mare has had a terrific prep, winning three times from just six runs. She was also close to winning at Group 3 level last start at Newcastle, running bravely to go down by a narrow margin. Goes to 1600m for the first time here, so that is certainly a little bit of a question mark, however, with the odds available, she looks like a great bet.
BLUEY’S BEST VALUE
CAULFIELD RACE 10 – 17:45 AEST
- KING OF LEOGRANCE ($19)
King of Leogrance resumed last start at Flemington, jumping at big odds over an unsuitable 1700m but running a promising 6th, just 2.75L away. He gets out to a much more suitable 2400m here and should be much fitter off that run. He goes back up in grade, but he should find it within his grasp. He had a similar lead into his third in the Geelong Cup last prep, so I’m confident we’ll see another good run here.
