BLUEY’S BEST
- WORTHILY ($2.50)
Worthily was having just his first Australian start last time out at Flemington; he raced over 1400m, which is by far the shortest race he’s contested in his career. He still put in a solid performance though, finishing just 3L away, despite enduring some bad luck in transit also. Up to 1800m today should suit and he will no doubt take improvement from that first up run. Should be tough to beat here.
- THROUGH IRISH EYES ($5.50)
Through Irish Eyes is first up here today after over a year, however has had two trials in preparation, so I’m confident he will be ready to go here. The Maher/Eustace trained runner will no doubt be better over further, having won the VRC St Leger over 2800m in his last prep, however, the gelding does have form over the shorter trip, so he should be prominent here today.
- GENERATION ($2.75)
Generation resumes here today at Group 3 level, the same grade in which he won his last outing at Moonee Valley by half-a-length. He sat in second position there, proving too strong & finally providing a breakthrough win last prep after two narrow third placings. I think he can continue on his winning ways here and should be right there in the finish.
BLUEY’S BEST VALUE
- WITCHFULTHINKING ($15)
Witchfulthinking resumed last start at BM84 level, finishing just 2.65L away as a $26 shot at Caulfield. She sat near the lead there but was unable to take up her usual frontrunning position, so perhaps she could have finished closer. There looks to be minimal speed inside here, so she should be able to take up that role fairly easily here. She drops back in class to BM78 & looks a great chance up on the pace again here.
