BLUEY’S BEST
- SHIHONKA ($2.35)
Shihonka looks on the up and should take some beating in this small field. She was brilliant when resuming, scoring a dominant 6.3L win as was expected when she jumped $1.10. She then jumped straight to Group 3 level, which was probably a step too far & was beaten 5.3L, however, she never really settled. She bounced back last start with a solid victory at Rosehill. I think she has some improvement to come here and if she takes the next step, the others won’t be able to match her here.
- OCEAN BEYOND ($4.20)
Ocean Beyond looks a great chance here after finally getting back in the winner’s circle last start. The gelding broke a six-run drought, where he was expected to perform much better on a number of occasions. He did have some trouble in a few of those runs and last start mostly avoided that, which allowed him to score. Draws another positive barrier here, so expecting another good run in transit & can go close again.
- KATALIN ($2.90)
Katalin has been the epitome of inconsistency in her short career; in her eight runs to date, she’s finished first, or no better than fifth… Whether this is simply a coincidence remains to be seen, but she has certainly displayed a great deal of talent on her good days. Last start, she raced poorly at Newcastle, so maybe we can expect a bounce back here?
BLUEY’S BEST VALUE
- CASIRINA ($11)
Casirina had a less than ideal start to begin the prep, finishing 8th in his first two runs over 1500m. He then took a step up to 1900m and improved significantly, running a narrow 2nd up in class. He followed that up with another solid 2nd placing over 2200m at Scone. Drops back to 1800m, but that shouldn’t be a problem and he looks to have found his feet this prep. Should run well.
