BLUEY’S BEST BETS – 19/10/2019
RANDWICK – RACE 5 1200m 14:50 AEDT
VICTOREM ($2.40)
Followed a similar path here last year coming into the race fresh, however failed to take it out. Has only gotten better since, including a strong win in the Bert Hinkler earlier this year. Think they will be keen to make amends for last year and take this out. Will need a good steer from Tommy Berry but has the most upside of any runner in this race.
RANDWICK – RACE 8 2000m 16:50 AEDT
SAMADOUBT ($3.50)
I think there are some question marks over Happy Clapper at 2000m and think Samadoubt present a much better bet here. Has been in superb form this prep, winning the Group 1 Winx Stakes and then the Group 2 Chelsmford. Was brilliant at 2000m last start but was just run down by Verry Elleegant on the line. Outside of Stampede there shouldn’t be much pressure here. Will take catching again.
CAULFIELD – RACE 6 2000m 15:10 AEDT
CELESTIAL FALLS ($3.50)
Talented horse who has only finished outside the top two once during her five-start career. Looks to be progressing through the grades nicely and appreciated the rise to 1800m last start, scoring a 1.25L win at Caulfield a few weeks ago. Trainer Mark Newnham is targeting this filly for the Oaks and this looks like another nice stepping stone on the way there.
BLUEY’S BEST VALUE
RANDWICK – RACE 7 1200m 16:15 AEDT
ALIZEE ($16)
Think we are getting a great value price for Alizee here with the speed engaged up front through Nature Strip and Redzel. Has been freshened since her Memsie run and she absolutely flies fresh, winning her past four first up runs. Godolphin wouldn’t put a slouch into The Everest so I’m confident she can bring her electric sprint and give this a shake.
