BLUEY’S BEST BETS - 15/01/2022
BLUEY’S BEST
- KIR ROYALE ($2.60)
Kir Royale has had a brilliant start to her career for Chris Waller; she’s now scored two wins from three runs and finished second in her only other run. Last start she was particularly impressive, overcoming trouble in the straight to score a nice win when stepping up in grade. She looks like she still has a lot of improvement to come & certainly looks the one to beat here.
- SWORD POINT ($2.70)
The two Waller trained horses head the market here and look like they should battle it out. Niffler currently has the better record of the two but Sword Point looks the one who will improve stepping out to 2000m for the first time. The colt over-raced throughout last start and found himself in an awkward position rounding the turn. He was very good the start prior & with a better run here should be in the money.
FLEMINGTON RACE 9 – 17:35 AEDT
- PITCHANUN ($7)
Open race here but I’m siding with the O’Brien trained Pitchanun, who has been racing well in her past few. She began the prep only fairly, but has since hit her straps, finishing in second place twice & winning once from her past three starts. Steps up in grade here but looks ready to take the next step. She draws a wide gate here but if she can slot in somewhere, she should run well here.
BLUEY’S BEST VALUE
- CELESTINE ($10)
Wide open race here after scratchings and Celestine looks the value. She was very good early in her career, winning three races in a row to kick off her career. She moved through the grades nicely and contested a Group 3 race at Flemington, where she finished under a length away. She was then spelled and returned at Open class, but was hampered and subsequently spelled again. She returned in at BM78 grade (same as today) last start after 308 days and ran fairly, but should take great improvement from that run. A return to form & fitness would see her prove too good for this field.
