- MISTER MOGUL ($4.80)
This hardy gelding brings excellent recent form into this, having won two starts back and finishing in the placings either side of that run. Comes into this with 63kg, but after a 3kg apprentice claim, he has a manageable 60kg. Maps well from the inside barrier and should prove tough to run down in the straight here.
- BUMPER BLAST ($4.40)
Viridine has been racing well this prep but I’m siding with Bumper Blast here. He was superb when resuming at Flemington down the straight, showing that he’s come back bigger and better this prep. He’s now building an impressive record (7: 4-0-0) and looks on the way to better races. Extra 200m should suit here and he can run well again.
- MAN OF PEACE ($3)
Man of Peace has been kind to punters so far this prep, scoring three wins from just six runs - all on Heavy tracks. He’s now building a terrific record in the wet and now faces a field where all bar four runners are first up. He will run this at a genuine pace and will no doubt have a fitness edge on most of the field. Should take catching here.
BLUEY’S BEST VALUE
- SINGLE BULLET ($14)
Masked Crusader clearly looks the one to beat, but I wouldn’t be rushing in to back the short quote on the Heavy Randwick track. Single Bullet looks a great value bet on the back of a strong first up performance behind Inanup, where he finished just half a length away. Yet to win on Heavy, but does have a good record on rain affected tracks. Should take improvement second up and can figure in the finish.
