BLUEY’S BEST
- SACRED COMMAND ($3.50)
The Waller-trained Secret Command has been unlucky in his past few starts; he struck interference at the start two runs ago and was crowded for room at the 200m mark, yet still managed to finish just 0.3L away. Last start, he was again slowly away and never saw daylight in the straight. He gets to the spacious Newcastle track, where he should have plenty of time to wind up. Expecting a strong performance here.
- SHIBLI ($5.00)
Sticking with another Waller/Berry pair here with the in-form Shibli, who has been on a tear this prep. The 5-year-old gelding has won three out of his last four runs, with his only miss at Randwick, where he was blocked for a run and also pulled up with poor post-race recovery. That is red hot form and happy to stick with him again.
CRANBOURNE RACE 5 – 15:00 AEDT
- MAYBE THE BEST ($4.40)
Quite keen on this lightly raced 4-year-old mare out of the Freedman yard. She was solid when resuming, finishing second behind Scissor Step and then she followed that up with another close second at Mornington the following start. She went to a new level when stepping up in class last start, leading all the way to score by 1.25L. This is her toughest challenge to date, but she has improved with every run and can certainly do so again here.

CRANBOURNE RACE 4 – 14:20 AEDT
- COMANCHE BRAVE ($16)
Comanche Brave looks an interesting runner here; he was solid last prep, scoring two wins (including a first up win) but finished the prep off with two poor runs. In his last run, there was a pre-race incident and he was passed fit, only to pull up lame afterwards. We can forgive that run and he has also been gelded during the spell, so he could definitely return with a bang first up at nice odds.
