OVERVIEW
This looks to be a cracking race for the 3-year-old Fillies, with some top quality runners engaged. The head-to-head rivalry between Funstar and Probabeel continues, and although it’s been Funstar who has dominated thus far, Probabeel was pinching ground late last start against the bias, so it’s game on here.
SPEED MAP
Pace should be genuine here with a number of Fillies likely to push for the early lead. Among those will be; Funstar, Love Me Quietly, Shout The Bar and Asiago. Strange Charm and Aspect Ratio look to be the next pair. Probabeel most likely finds herself smack back in the middle of the field.
KEY RUNNERS
- FUNSTAR ($1.85)
Has really started to put together an impressive record thus far in her career; she now has five wins from just seven starts. Her recent consistency in particular, has been phenomenal. First time jumping to 2000m here and whilst I’m sure she’ll run well again, she might be vulnerable here.
- PROBABEEL ($4.20)
Looks the most likely challenger to the favourite here, particularly after her last start effort where she was outstanding in defeat. She got too far back last start but managed to pinch some solid ground off Funstar in the straight. She has never run this distance either but the way she hit the line last start at 1600m suggests she should appreciate it.
- SHOUT THE BAR ($20)
Looks to be the top roughie for mine. She’s only had the three career starts to date but has scored two impressive wins and was only narrowly defeated last start. The jump to 2000m may test her but she has upside potential and could find herself in the lead early.
BLUEY’S PICK
- PROBABEEL ($4.20)
Funstar looks a little bit vulnerable at 2000m, so I’m siding with the extremely talented Probabeel, who was nearly just as good as Funstart last start, despite overcoming an unsuitable tempo and a leader’s bias. The 2000m looks to suit her perfectly and I think she’ll be very hard to beat here.
