OVERVIEW
Select field for this year’s Flight Stakes with only six runners declared for the final field. The race still has some intrigue however, with what looks to be a match race taking place between Funstar & Probabeel. Can Probabeel reverse the narrow defeat from last start? Notable bridesmaid Oohood took out the race last year.
SPEED MAP
Tempo looks to be muddling here and the order should sort itself out pretty quickly. Maybe Funstar leads them away here followed by Our Girl Sniti and Girls Are Ready. A game of cat and mouse looks certain with Funstar out in front and Probabeel set to be at the tail of the field.
KEY RUNNERS
- FUNSTAR ($1.80)
Has only been beaten once so far in her short career and that was first up, when talented runner Yao Dash narrowly defeated her. Last start she won the Group 2 Tea Stakes holding on narrowly to defeat a fast finishing Probabeel who again lines up here today.
- PROBABEEL ($2.20)
Funstar will jump at short odds here but in my opinion Probabeel has more upside here after rattling home to just miss last start in the Tea Stakes. Prior race was beaten narrowly by Libertini and Villami, which looks like some top form at the moment after both have ran well since. Extra 200m looks to suit and should prove hard to beat.
- GIRLS ARE READY ($31)
Don’t think she will trouble the top 2 in the market but if they run into trouble perhaps Girls Are Ready will be ready to pounce. Put together a solid run at Rosehill two starts back for third, albeit in a Highway, before scoring a solid win at Canberra the following start. If it rains, she will have no issues either.
BLUEY’S PICK
- PROBABEEL ($2.20)
Really looks to be a match race between Probabeel & Funstar, the former of which I think profiles the best here after two strong runs to begin her campaign. Looks to want this distance after hitting the line strongly in her previous two starts and will be hitting the line strong again here.
