OVERVIEW
Wide open field for the feature race of the day – The Epsom. There are any number of runners which could take this out and we wouldn’t be surprised. Kolding looks to continue on his winning ways with Glen Boss onboard but faces some stiff competition. Dreamforce scored a strong win last start over Te Akau Shark who is very talented.
SPEED MAP
Tempo should be strong here with Archedemus set to lead them away from the inside barrier, however may face some competition for the lead against the speedy Dreamforce who draws widest. Gets a bit messy from here with such a large field, however I expect Desert Lord and Fifty Stars to be prominent also.
KEY RUNNERS
- TE AKAU SHARK ($6)
Highly talented New Zealand gelding who had only been beaten twice before landing on Australian shores. I’d say he has measured up quite well thus far in Australia, scoring a second placing at Group 2 level behind Dreamforce. Should improve off that run and looks one of the main players, particularly out to 1600m.
- GEM SONG ($11)
Comes into this race after a somewhat flattening second behind Mister Sea Wolf last start when he was well fancied in the market. Still put in a solid run however, adding to his fairly consistent resume. Should enjoy getting out to 1600m and can use the inside barrier to advantage.
- KOLDING ($5)
Talented Gelding who ascended through the grades quickly last preparation, and ultimately scored a Group 2 victory in the QLD Guineas whilst also notching up his fourth consecutive win. Was badly blocked first up in the Tramway but hit back last start scoring an impressive victory. Gets better with each run and looks a great chance.
BLUEY’S PICK
- KOLDING ($5)
Wide open field with a number of chances, however I keep coming back to Kolding who fought back brilliantly to score last start. Was badly blocked first up and could easily have six consecutive wins! Should be peaking here third up and the 1600m should suit. Looks a deserved favourite.
