BLUEY’S BEST BETS - AUSTRALIAN CUP & TANCRED STAKES DAY

VINERY - ROSEHILL RACE 7 – 16:00 AEDST PAVITRA (Rosehill Race 7 No 3) Strong filly for the Freedman yard, who trialled up superbly this prep before putting a hole in them last start when second up in the Kembla Grange Classic. Come back better I think this horse. Suited stepping to 2000m now and with the rail out, will be hard to get past with her on speed pattern. Number one seed in the oaks for mine.
TANCRED STAKES - ROSEHILL RACE 8 – 16:40 AEDST STOCKMAN (Rosehill Race 8 No 4) Ridden out of his pattern last start in the Sky High, but thought he was super sticking on when dragging the rest of the field into the race. Another that will benefit getting out in trip and with considerable rain forecast for Saturday, convinced the market will find him. Would be taking the $17 available and a good each-way bet.
AUSTRALIAN CUP - FLEMINGTON RACE 7 – 16:20 AEST CASCADIAN (Flemington Race 7 No 1) Worthy favourite and looks hard to beat off what was a super run in the All-Star Mile. Big tick being on the seven-day back up and his form at Flemington and 2000m has been superb. Drawn out is a positive for him and with the right run, will be hard to hold out.
BEST - FLEMINGTON RACE 5 – 15:00 AEDST GOLDMAN (Flemington Race 5 No 10) Big step in grade but looks an ultra-progressive stayer who continues to go about it the right way. Dominant figures in both Aus wins, jumps on the bunny again here against a field of largely out of form gallopers. Has the right connections and one I think the big teams get stuck into. Best of the day.
VALUE - ROSEHILL RACE 10 – 17:55 AEST WAVERLEY (Rosehill Race 2 No 8) Monitor how the track plays in the first as this bloke will get back, but like his set up for this race third up and jumping to the seven furlongs. Has hurtled at the line in two runs over unsuitable trips, and in what looks a very even contest, looks an easy bet to have at double figure odds.
LAY - ROSEHILL RACE 9 – 17:20 AEDST CROSS TALK (Rosehill Race 9 No 5) Gets more on speed influences here and although boasts a very good record, has been found out slightly at this level in the past. Great chance of course but this looks a deep race, and just too short at the early quote.
