Race Speed
Should be a moderately run race with Neutrality set to take the lead from either Jonker or Tchaikovsky. The order should set itself out pretty quickly. Plague Stone will find the rail behind the leaders, Performer will be around midfield or slightly worse and Graff will be the backmarker in the race. Rail out 6m should be of benefit to those in the front half of the field although every runner should get its chance here.
Key Runners
1. PERFORMER ($3.70)
Returns here for the Bowman/Waller combination and goes well fresh (2: 2-0-0). Last prep is hard to judge as won first up, then lost rider 2nd up and failed in the Slipper. Trialled well recently and looks to be in good order. Will be an interesting return but I can see him in the finish here
5. PLAGUE STONE ($4.50)
3rd up here and will be rock hard fit (had two trials before his first up victory in the Rosebud Prelude). Last start can be forgiven as he was driven 3 wide no cover and raced keenly throughout, yet still only finished half a length of them. Should get a much better run in behind the leaders here.
8. NEUTRALITY ($5.00)
The likely leader in the race which should be of benefit to him (especially if Jonker and Tchaikovsky don’t apply pressure). Won 2 recent jump outs which indicates he’s ready to fire first up. Won on debut and then weakened in the Silver Slipper, which can arguably be forgiven due to a slow start. Very interesting runner.
Best Bet
8. NEUTRALITY ($5.00)
This is a very tricky race despite the small field, with many of the runners first up and hard to completely assess where they are at. Neutrality should get a relatively uncontested lead and with the rail out 6m I think that should favour. I’m willing to forgive his last run and think he can best the other runners here who will need to come from further back.
