Race Overview
Well, this one looks like merely a formality for the great mare Winx, who is looking to resume her Spring preparation with a 26th consecutive win – eclipsing the great Black Caviar’s record in the process. She has trialled superbly again and by all reports seems to be going as good as ever. If she resumes as expected, start buying your tickets to the Cox Plate as she will be shooting for a record fourth Cox Plate.
Kementari seems to be the clear second pick in the race after Cummings nominated recently. The battle has been billed as the Champion v Contender and should make for some good viewing. If Winx falters, there is a definite opportunity for Kementari here. Kementari was beaten narrowly first up and if out earlier likely wins the race. Out to 1400m now which has won twice at. Will be out to impress again with owners looking to secure an Everest slot.
Race Selection
By how many? Last prep she was tardy out of the barriers and punters were nervous, but she still managed to pick up good runners and beat them home with ‘relative’ ease. Kementari is the danger here and whilst extremely talented is unlikely to beat the mighty mare. She’s apples.
