The Kennedy Oaks is the major 3-year-old staying event for fillies during the Flemington Carnival. Despite being held on a work day, the race generally draws a huge crowd and has been dubbed as “Ladies Day” in recent years. Notable winners of the race include; Jameka, Miss Finland and 2016 tearaway winner Lasqueti Spirit.
Race Speed
We should see this run at a decent clip with Sizzleme likely to cross and lead from barrier 14. Across the other side, Greysful Glamour should be able to hunt up the rail and should be prominent early. Verry Elleegant may be used early to negate the wide barrier but may be forced wide. There’s a number of backmarkers in the race who might sit a fraction further forward in this field.
Key Runners
- AMPHITRITE ($3.30)
Was a tough watch for Amphitrite backers on Saturday with the filly in a disastrous spot with 500m to go before Craig Williams left the rail in search of a run only for the eventual winner to take the run she should have had! Never saw daylight and have to forgive that run.
- VERRY ELLEEGANT ($5.00)
Another talented horse whose run we can forgive last start. Whilst it was under different circumstances, the filly was trapped 3-wide at the rear of the field for much of a race that was mostly dominated by on speed horses. Form before that was impressive.
- ZAPURLER ($11.00)
Looks like she will easily get the distance here which is the key for a race of this distance in which many (or all) of the horses are untried on. Good win last start and despite that being run at Echuca the form is quite strong!

Completely forgiving the luckless last start run and assessing her on previous form which was scintillating! There are obvious question marks over whether she will run the distance or be able to show her customary sprint over 2500m but if she does, she will be very hard to beat!
