This looks like it will be one of the weaker Group 1 races you’ll see this Spring, but nonetheless there are some talented types running here. This is the only Group 1 for 3-year-old fillies in Sydney and is the first of 3 Group 1s at Randwick on Epsom day. The race has produced some stars in previous years, including Samantha Miss, More Joyous and Alizee. Notably, First Seal defeated the mighty Winx here in 2014.
Race Speed
The Flight Stakes should be run at a moderate clip, with Mizzy likely to take up the running from one of the widest barriers. Miss Fabulass will likely sit in behind the leaders alongside Symi. Oohood is a chance to be caught wide or may be snagged towards the rear of the field. Maid of Heaven is the likely backmarker.

- OOHOOD ($10.00)
Australia’s most expensive maiden – not really a tag you want on your horse as an owner. Regardless, the horse no doubt has some talent which always keeps her towards the top of the market. Last start was unsuited with a wide run, but prior to that had chances to win. Should be fully fit here however.
- MISS FABULASS ($2.00)
Unsuited two starts back where finished 6th but atoned in an impressive way last start where was held up during the straight before bursting clear to score an impressive win. Looks to get the run of the race here and the jump to 1600m should only suit.
- FIESTA ($7.50)
Maps towards the middle of the field here, but should get a decent enough trail in the race. Last start was wide with cover, but the extra distance travelled may have told late when could not match the sprint of Miss Fabulass. With a better run here she could bridge the gap between herself and the favourite.
Race Selection
- MISS FABULASS ($2.00)
Looks to get an absolute gun position in the run here which looks to be a key factor. Liked the way she quickened last start when clear to power home for an impressive victory. Extra distance should suit here and gun rider McEvoy on board is a plus. Tough to beat.
