Racing Betting Guide Wednesday, 30 January
Mick Price’s High Ratio is the short-priced favourite of the race off the back of some listed form last preparation. It ran in the Vain Stakes last campaign and wasn’t disgraced, only running 2.6 lengths off the winner.
He is well bred and has been gelded and I would think Mick Price would be sending him here to get a win out of the way and move on to bigger and better things over the autumn.
A horse with some value that I don’t mind is Melveen from the Henry Dwyer yard.
She ran in a hot fillies race down the Flemington straight to kick off her prep and over raced and only beat one home.
Here she should be able to jump and find some cover and relax a bit more. She won second-up last preparation so she could be in the mix in this race.
Tip: High Ration to win @ $2.75
Tip: Melveen to place @ $4.40
In the final event, Greg Eurell has Clarice Cliffs who looks to have some talent. Her only defeat has come to a horse that was running well in high grade 3YO races last spring. She won first-up quite easily and should improve on that run.
Wazzenme seems to have found his form again since being transferred to Daniel Williams small team. Mornington is also his home track and summer on hot days, the lack of travel can really benefit horses.
He is dropping back from a Flemington grade race and should appreciate that and run well again.
Tip: Clarice Cliffs to win @ $2.00
Tip: Wazzenme each way @ $8.50/$2.45/a>
Lifetime Quest from the Kris Lees stable has been knocking on the door for a while and it looks like Wednesday could be his day.
Kerrin McEvoy doesn’t go all the way to Gosford for any old rides and I think this horse might have been a big selling point for him.
The horse already knows the track and distance and has drawn beautifully in barrier five so I think he will be difficult to beat.
