Bluey’s Best Racing Bets – Wednesday 12 December

Racing Betting Guide Wednesday, December 12

Sandown R8

Smokin’ Pierro from team Hawkes ran on well last start at Moonee Valley but just couldn’t catch the leaders. If he can jump cleanly from gate three, he can sit closer to the speed and hopefully just battle to the line.

Based on his last run, it doesn’t look like the 2400m will be a problem.

Darren Weir’s Bringit has had a start over 2400m at Sandown and didn’t disgrace himself but wasn’t overly impressive either.

His run at Warrnambool last start was good but he seemed to weaken right at the end of the race so I can’t be confident that he’ll handle 2400m.

Tip: Smokin’ Pierro $3.80/$1.70

Wyong R4 – Magic Millions Wyong 3YO Stakes

Gai Waterhouse’s Invincible Star is the class horse of this race. It was only a year and a bit ago that she ran second to champion three-year-old Merchant Navy and she has had a very good spring campaign without winning.

Bel Sonic is one to watch in this race as well. He won well at Ballarat last start and is a very consistent horse.

I think Nick Olive’s Sizzling Belle is the best for some value. She had a good two-year-old preparation and with barrier one, if she is on the speed, she could hold on to run a place.

Tip: Invincible Star win @ $1.60, Sizzling Belle place @ $2.65

Sandown R4

King Kabuto from the Ciaron Maher and David Eustace stable was good first-up over a distance that isn’t his best, but he is a big heavy horse by Helmet and they generally take great improvement from a run.

He won second-up last preparation and the stable believe he has improved on his last campaign. With a bit of luck from the outside barrier, he can win this race.

The current favourite of the race is Mick Price’s Zou York. He’s drawn well and has the maestro Damian Oliver on his back however I think this horse would prefer some cut in the track.

His best runs have been on sort of heavy ground and last start he ran on a good 4 and while he didn’t have a whole lot of room to make a run, he did lay in when the pressure came on.

That suggests he was feeling the hard ground and with some warm temperatures and not much rain over the next couple of days, I would think the track at Sandown on Wednesday will be pretty firm.

Tip: King Kabuto $4/$1.45
