Bluey’s Best Racing Bets – Thursday 2 May

Racing Betting Guide Thursday, 2 May

WARRNAMBOOL - RACE 1 3200m 11:15 AEST

CHEQUERED FLAG ($2.20)

Chequered Flag looks like a safe bet to kickstart the final day of The ‘Bool Carnival. He has only had two starts over the jumps but has finished in the top 2 both times, including a 10L romp here two years ago. Has far better flat form than these here and should be able to start the day off well for punters.

WARRNAMBOOL - RACE 4 1100m 12:45 AEST

SATORI ($2.50)

Holds a terrific overall record (8: 4-2-1) and is unbeaten from 3 starts first up which bodes well for today as he is racing fresh here. Also has some form behind the talented Fifty Stars last prep – a prep which could have easily resulted in a few more wins, if not for a few narrow defeats. Should be able to control the race from in front and should be too good.

GRAND ANNUAL STEEPLE

WARRNAMBOOL – RACE 7 5500m 14:30 AEST

GOLD MEDALS ($6.00)

This looks like a cracking edition of the Grand Annual and will no doubt be the highlight of the week (just ask Ric McIntosh). I’m siding with last year’s winner Gold Medals who is on the quick backup from the Brierly after narrowly going down to Bit of a Lad. He had the same lead in last year before winning and in fact he bested the race favourite twice that week. May not be going as well as last year but he is as honest as they come and can give his title defence a good shake.

BLUEY’S BEST VALUE

WARRNAMBOOL - RACE 6 1700m 13:50 AEST

METEOR LIGHT ($10.00)

Should be able to push forward and sit just behind the leaders here which could be pivotal at this point of the day. Raced against the favourite here Bea Tempted first up and was beaten comfortably, but he was on inferior ground & I think he’ll be far better for the run coming off a 200+ day spell. Back to Soft ground is a huge positive – he has placed at each of his 3 starts on rain affected tracks. William Pike is yet to ride a winner at The ‘Bool – could this be his first one?
