Bluey’s Best Bets – 4/05/2019

FLEMINGTON - RACE 3 1410m 13:00 AEST

FIDELIA ($2.50)

Fidelia looks like a really nice type and has returned from a spell beautifully. She has shown talent in her short career and looks extremely progressive – in just her third start she finished within a length of the talented Sunlight. Seemed to find the 1100m too short first up before scoring a nice win at Sandown over 1300m. Out to 1400m should suit perfectly and should be extremely hard to beat here.

GOLD COAST – RACE 5 900m 13:50 AEST

SPURCRAFT ($2.60)

This looks set to be a mad dash and I think that can play into Spurcraft’s hand. They will no doubt be pushing forward on a lot of other runners from wider barriers and with the long turn on the Gold Coast that could prove costly. Spurcraft on the other hand draws gate 1 and should be able to use his early speed to hunt up the rails to take up the running. He is as consistent as they come and if he leads as expected they’ll have a hard time catching him.

MORPHETTVILLE - RACE 3 1100m 13:56 AEST

HAUNTED ($2.45)

Tipped Haunted here a couple weeks back at Caulfield and there’s absolutely no reason to jump off. That Caulfield run was scintillating and he beat home some nice types there, including Black type winner Dollar For Dollar. Has won five of his last nine starts and looks set to get the run of the race here. Should put another great run in.

BLUEY’S BEST VALUE

FLEMINGTON - RACE 8 1800m 16:15 AEST

MORTON’S FORK ($8.00)

Has mixed his form a bit this prep, and has only finished in the placings once, but I think there’s been a bit more merit to his runs than the form reads. He put in nice sectionals at Bendigo, was solid last start and could have notched up a win second up. His only real poor run he put in was on the bottomless Rosehill track 3 starts back, which I doubt he handled. This is an open field and looks a winnable race for the Godolphin runner.

RANDWICK - RACE 9 1550m 16:45 AEST

FUCHU ($10.00)

Put in a strong prep at the end of last year which consisted of 3 wins from 4 starts with his only defeat under a length first up. Looks to be extremely progressive and was good last time out at Randwick in the Provincial Championships. He was a clear last on the turn and put in some slick sectionals to finish 1L away from eventual winner Bobbing. Looks a great chance at odds.
