Bluey’s Best Bets – 13/04/2019
CAULFIELD - RACE 5 2425m 14:45 AEST
SECRET BLAZE ($2.60)
Form this prep has been solid, considering he has run in Group 2 level races in all bar one start. Last start dropped back down in class to Bendigo and was just a little too good for them. Boasts some solid form last prep also – again behind some strong fields. Has been racing well but perhaps slightly above his rating. This race looks more his go and should be well within his grasp.
RANDWICK – RACE 8 3200m 15:50 AEST
DUBHE ($3.50)
Charlie Appleby has an unnerving knack for placing his horses well in Australia, particularly over staying distances and he brings over yet another one with untapped potential here. Maps a bit awkwardly toward the back of the field but the spacious Randwick track should give him plenty of time to get out. Was brilliant last start out at Meydan and I think that form should hold up well here.
CAULFIELD - RACE 8 1100m 16:50 AEST
EDUARDO ($2.05)
Lightly raced 5yo who had been in superb form leading into the Newmarket last start where he put in his first unplaced run. Happy to forgive that run as he has an absolute gut buster first up in the Group 1 Oakleigh Plate on a brutal speed at Caulfield (and fought well). Form prior to that was terrific and I think with the freshen he’s had, he’ll be back to his winning ways here.
BLUEY’S BEST VALUE
RANDWICK - RACE 5 1200m 13:50 AEST
ZOUSAIN ($7.00)
Has had a knack for running second throughout his career, but in all fairness a number of those have been to high quality horses such as The Autumn Sun. Completely forgive last starts effort in the Newmarket when pulled up lame. Was only narrowly defeated by Sunlight in the Spring and if can return to form here will go very close.
