Form Guide
After surviving a late collapse against the Renegades, the Scorchers moved to the top of the table with a 3-0 record. Michael Klinger is back in form and saluted as our top run scorer last game. Mitch Johnson is still the best opener in the Big Bash and took 3 wickets against the Renegades. With a few players coming back after the test series, the Scorchers are once again a Big Bash force.
In contrast, the Sixers are not having a great start to the season. They’re 0-3 and have serious batting issues. The two English players are out of form and Moises Henriques missed their last match. Sean Abbott hasn’t backed up his form from last season either. But the positives are Silk made a half-century in his first game of the season and Nic Maddinson is hitting the ball well. Ben Dwarshuis returned from injury last game and performed well with the ball and bat.

With Michael Klinger back in form, he’s the key man. He loves batting at the WACA and we’ll back him against the Sixers. He also top scored in the final last season against the Sixers.

Picking a top runscorer for the Sixers at the moment is a tough process. Especially when Steve O’Keefe leads them with 70 runs. But a good choice would be Jordan Silk. In his first match of the season, he scored a 50 off just 32 balls.

The Sixers are woefully out of form and we can’t see an upset. They’re 1-7 against them since 2013 and the Scorchers smashed them in the final last season.
Melbourne Stars vs Brisbane Heat

Where: MCG, Melbourne

Form Guide
The Stars had the bye last round and will be looking to kick start their season in 2018. It’s fair to say they haven’t performed to their high standards so far. They were beaten by the Scorchers last game and lost to the Heat in Round 1. But KP is back and he’ll improve the batting lineup. The bowling can't really be questioned. James Faulker had the Scorchers top order in all sorts last game and the key at the MCG will be the spin pair of Zampa/Beer.
Brisbane have kicked off the season with 2 wins and a loss. They play the Strikers in Adelaide on New Years Eve before this match, so it’s hard to preview their form. But the Heat will be glad Chris Lynn is back because McCullum hasn’t performed thus far. They were also close to losing against the Thunder at home last game.

The Heat have a great record over the Stars with four straight wins and a 5-2 record since 2010.

After a top order collapse against the Scorchers, the batting lineup will be looking to make amends and we’re looking at opener Luke Wright. He is a proven performer at the MCG for the Stars and top scored against the Heat last time they met here. He also looked good against them in Round 1 with 19 off 15 balls.

It’s hard to look past Chris Lynn. He smashed 56 against the Stars in January 2016 at the MCG, which included 7 sixes. In first match of this season, he scored 25 off not many balls and looked in ominous touch. So we’ll be backing him here on what should be a good batting deck.

Despite the Heat’s record over the Stars, we’re backing the Stars to break their duck for the season. They’ll be looking to rebound after a poor last game and they have too much talent to be 0-3.
