The Giants have had a rough fortnight, and it doesn't get any easier when they head to the MCG for the first time this season to face the Hawks.
Hawthorn Hawks vs GWS Giants
It's been a flat fortnight for the Giants after the bye, with losses to St Kilda and Carlton.
They now face a Hawthorn outfit that turned it on last week against the Suns, looking to consolidate their spot inside the top-four.
GWS had a shock Round 0 win over Hawthorn despite missing a heap of players to start the season. Can they cause another upset at their first game at the MCG in 2026?
Leg 1 - Under 172.5 Total Points
These two teams met in Round 0 and we saw a high scoring affair, but as we know the first couple of rounds of the AFL season each year produce high-scoring games, which slows right down when defensive schemes and cold weather come in.
From the last 12 meetings between these two teams, nine have landed under the total points line. As for games at the MCG this season, just 34.5% are going overs in 2026.
Five of the last seven GWS games have gone unders, while Hawthorn at the MCG has been a strong unders proposition dating back to the start of 2025, with 12 of their last 16 not clearing the total points.
Leg 2 - Phoenix Gothard 1+ Goals
Been a revelation for GWS this season in his first year of consistent selection, despite this being his third year in the system.
Phoenix Gothard has kicked 18 goals in 2026 as a small forward, kicking at least one goal in 12 of his 14 games, including his last four.
Nice price in this Same Game Multi for him to add to his season goal tally.
Leg 3 - Finn Callaghan 25+ Disposals
Finn Callaghan is a reliable ball winner, and is having close to an identical season to last year, where he polled 21 Brownlow votes.
Callaghan is averaging 28.7 disposals per game this season, and has hit 25+ disposals in 12 of his 14 games, including his last six.
Although the Suns got smashed at clearance against the Hawks last week, Anderson and Petracca still found a heap of ball around the ground. Callaghan has had 26 and 34 in his last two games against the Hawks, and appears a safe option to hit this mark again.
Leg 4 - Dylan Moore 1+ Goals
Kicked four goals last week for the Hawks, and although he's notoriously been that high half-forward pushing up the ground, Dylan Moore spent a lot of last week's win inside 50 for the Hawks.
With his output around the goals lower than usual before the bye, it appears Sam Mitchell has identified Moore as someone they need having scoreboard impact, which means less disposals but more goals, especially with Jack Gunston still out.
Assuming he stays in this role Friday night, we should see more goals from Moore.
