AFL Round 14

Geelong Cats vs Western Bulldogs, GMHBA Stadium, June 18th 7.50pm

Match of the round kicks us off on a Friday night between two teams that are pressing for a top four finish. The Cats had a great win last weekend against the Power and Jezza Cameron was on fire from the get-go, kicking 5 goals and adds another dimension to the Cats' forward line, along with Hawkins. The Dogs are coming off the bye, so they will be fresh coming into this game. I believe if the Cats can stop Bont and Libba, they will win this game easily. The run they get from Rohan and Duncan at some stages are unstoppable, which is very hard to stop once they get going. The Dogs can win this but will need a big game from Bruce and Haughton, who have been out of form with their goal kicking. Tipping the Cats by 10+ as it is at their home ground.

Head 2 Head

Cats have won two of the last three games vs the Dogs

Best bet
Cats win $1.62

Gold Coast Suns vs Port Adelaide Power, Metricon Stadium, June 19th 1.45pm

Gold Coast are back in a position where they have been for most of their time in the AFL - struggling to get out of the bottom four. They come up against a Power side who lost to the Cats last weekend in a game which they could have won. I honestly think this game could be roadkill for the Suns. Dixon up against his old side but the Suns do have a good matchup for him in Collins but again, he needs more support around the ground. Matt Rowell got through his last game ok but wasn’t at his best and will be better for the run. Power need to use Karl Amon's ability to run his opponents into the ground and use his elite ball kicking skills. Expecting an easy win for the Power and that line bet is best of the week.

Head 2 Head

Power have won the last three games vs Suns

Best bet
Port win $1.43
Port line -14.5 $1.90

GWS vs Carlton Blues, Giants Stadium, June 19th, 7.40pm

Interesting game here on Saturday night. The Giants had a draw against the worst team in the comp last week but a real positive they could take out of the game was their ability to fight back in the last quarter. They need a little more from Toby Greene who again found it hard to kick goals, kicking 1.4, but it will come. The Blues are in serious trouble of being beaten again and really David Teague will be under more and more pressure going into the back half of the season. The Giants get back to their home deck and it looks like they will welcome some stars back to the team. Can’t see the Blues winning this one, with the Giants beating them in the last three fixtures. Giants by 20+

Head 2 Head

GWS have won the last three games vs the Blues

Best bet
Giants win $1.66

Hawthorn Hawks vs Essendon Bombers, UTS Stadium, June 20th 3.20pm

If the Hawks did a boxing class last week before the Swans game they better pack the gloves for this old grudge match. Who remembers 2004 when the Hawks players went nuts with most of the side throwing haymakers? You can expect some fireworks this weekend as these two sides hate each other. The Bombers are coming off the bye and a big loss to the Tigers last weekend, and the Hawks are coming off their best win of Season 2021 with a great win over the Swans. Zach Merrett has re-signed with the Bombers and boy did they need him with his run and carry. Stringer needs to lift in the back half of the year if he is going to secure another contract. Big game but I believe the Bombers will get over the line in Tassie.

Head 2 Head

Bombers have won two of the last three games vs the Hawks

Best Bet
Bombers win $1.56
