Round 11

Sydney Swans vs GWS Giants

Thursday  (12th August 8.10) Optus Stadium

Sydney Derby in Perth is another weird game in a weird location but that is 2020 in a nutshell. Giants have hit some form lately coming from behind to beat the Bombers last year which was a famous win for the side. Phil Davis is out this weekend after copping a knock to his knee, carried on like he broke his leg in 33 places, Phil needs to realise that it is not all about him and focus on getting a kick. Cameron and Hooper stood up last weekend for the Giants and when they were down really steady the ship and made sure they could come back from such a big margin. The Swans on the other hand were in the game against the Pies for the four qtrs and if it wasn’t for a come of unlucky bounces they would have stolen a win. The signs are promising for the Swans with their young players having a go. It is the Bloods culture that is so strong and I believe they will be a force within two years. I am tipping the Giants to win here but I really like the Swans line at 19.5 it is a Derby and the Swans would love nothing more then to knock off their little brother. Blakey is back for the Swans while Alir Alir misses with injury. Giants welcome back Jacobs for Mumford who is managed.

Geelong Cats vs Port Adelaide Power

Friday  (13th August 7.50) Metricon Stadium

This will be great viewing for a Friday night. Two teams who are flying at the moment and this match up looks a cracker. Over the last couple of years the Cats have had the wood over the Power but with Port sitting pretty on top of the table they will back themselves in tonight to get a win over the Cats. Robbie Gray is in unreal form and will look to open this game up early. Tom Hawkins for the Cats is unstoppable at the moment and is equal first on the Coleman medal and a big bag of goals tonight could put him outright first by the end of the round. The Cats have been playing smart footy and they will need Dangerfield and Selwood to bring that tonight to knock off the Power. If the Cats win this they can push for top 4 spot and with the shorter season it looks like top 4 will be even more valuable. The Power need a big game from Charlie Dixon who has been playing well but is yet to really punish a team as he misses a lot of easy set shots. Jack Steven is being managed by the Cats they bring in Motlop against his old side. Cats for me tonight by 10.
