AFL Finals week 2

Geelong Cats vs GWS Giants, Optus Stadium, 3/9/21, 7.50pm

It's a do or die clash between two teams who have had interesting weeks, to say the least. The Giants have been dealt the biggest blow before a ball has even been kicked and that is because they have lost their star player Toby Greene for making contact with an umpire. Silly, Toby, but this Giants love being the underdog and can cause a massive upset on Friday night. The Cats were smashed all over the park last weekend versus the Power and didn’t look like kicking a score. That will change this weekend and they will be very fired up. The Giants have the wood over the Cats, winning the last three meetings between these two sides and they will take a lot of confidence into this game that they can do it again. The captain Cogs is in his home state and I am tipping him to fire up. Playing a negative role for his side but I have faith in him come this Friday - he will be ready. Must mention Jezza Cameron against his old side in a final - you can’t script this stuff. I am going with the Giants. Their form stacks up and they will be up for this. Giants by 1+

Head 2 Head

Giants have won the last three games vs the Cats

Best bet
Giants win $3.05
Giants -16.5 $1.90

Brisbane Lions vs Western Bulldogs, Gabba, 4/9/21 7.20pm

The loser of this can kiss 2021 goodbye and look back at what could have been. The Lions were lucky to grab a top four spot when they beat the Eagles by 23 points two weeks ago and that hurt the Dogs' chances of taking out this year's flag. In saying that, the Dogs looked unreal last weekend versus the Dons in the wet, so they will take a lot of confidence into the game. The Lions have the biggest advantage - a home crowd on a Saturday night and they can really help this side go a long way to winning. The key match-ups are Keath on Daniher and the midfield battle. Lions must stop Bont and McRae getting clean ball or it will hurt their chances of winning the midfield battle. Daniel Rich was stopped last weekend against the Demons and if the Dogs can do that, they can win. Dogs need to stop Charlie Cameron. He kicked 3 goals in the first quarter last weekend. I am tipping the Lions to win and win by the line as well. Home ground advantage in a final is massive. Lions by 17+

Head 2 Head

Lions have won two of the last three vs the Dogs

Best bet
Lions win $1.62
Lions -8.5 $1.90
