Round 12
Richmond Tigers vs Geelong Cats
June 7th (Friday 7.50pm) MCG
Match of the round on a Friday night nothing better to start the dreaded bye week. Cats are the form team of the comp beating anyone who has come in their way. This Friday will be a tough game for both sides. Tigers are still without a bunch of stars but if I was a Cats fan I would be very scared of one player Dustin Martin who last week found his touch in a losing side. Dusty loves Friday night and loves playing at the MCG. Tigers have brought back Rioli for this clash. Cats will use their great midfield to expose the Tigers led by Kelly and Selwood and they welcome back Gary Ablett who was in career best form before a suspension vs the Suns. Odds say cats will win but I believe last week was a wake up call for the Tigers losing to the Kangas and they will be up for this game.

Carlton Blues vs Brisbane Lions
June 8th (Saturday 1.45pm) Marvel
What a week for the Blues they have sacked their coach Brendon Bolton after constant loses. One must think how a club with such a rich history and constant AFL handouts can get something so wrong. Bolton was the scapegoat for a list that doesn’t look interested in playing football at all. The Kangas showed spirit last week for their new coach in Rhys Shaw hopefully the Blues show something for new caretaker coach David Teague. They come up against a red hot Brisbane side who last week came from 33 points down to beat the Hawks at the Gabba. The Lions run and carry from defence to attack is scary and Charlie Cameron looks like to open up any defence. The midfield led by Zorko is scary good this side is making the finals and it is a scary thought what they can do when they get their running game going.

Gold Coast Suns vs North Melbourne Kangaroos
June 8th (Saturday 4.35pm) Metricon
North Melbourne head to the Gold Coast if it was 2007 they would of been heading there to set up a club there but the Suns are there now and this game always has a bit of feeling in it. Kangas got a famous win last week led by Ben Brown knocking off the 2017 premiers. The Kangas will go in favorites this weekend but the Suns have showed great performances at home this year and will go into the game with a lot of confidence they can win this. They welcome back one of there guns in Touk Miller who is back from injury. Game will be won and lost in the middle and if Jarrod Witts for the Suns can get on top I believe the Suns will cause an upset. Sexton who started the year on fire and was leading the coleman medal at one stage has been quiet but this is his week to get off the chain and kick a few.

Kangas have won 3 of the past 5 games vs the Suns.

Adelaide Crows vs Greater Western Sydney Giants
June 8th (Saturday 7.10pm) Adelaide
The Crows used their get out of jail free card last weekend vs the Demons winning the game in the last 2 minutes after trailing by 31 points at one stage. They were led by Josh Jenkins and Brad Crouch that got them over the line. In a strange one the Crows have dropped Bryce Gibbs for the third time this year, is there something going on that we don’t know? The Giants are in red hot form and will be thinking this is a perfect opportunity to beat the Crows at Adelaide oval. In a big one the Giants have lost one of their best midfielders in Lachie Whitfield for a month with a shoulder injury. I am tipping the Crows to be strong at home and win this game. Giants will need to take Taylor Walker and Eddie Beats out of the game if they are to win this game.

Sydney Swans vs West Coast Eagles
June 9th (Sunday 3.25pm) SCG
The Eagles are back in form after winning 4 in a row but they head to a ground where they haven’t won since 1999. The SCG has never suited the Eagles as it’s small and doesn’t allow the Eagles to use their kicking game to open teams up add that in and the loss of their skipper in Shannon Hurn this game has become a lot evener. The Swans have been competitive in the past two weeks vs the Cats and the Pies and in my eyes should be going in favourites for this game. Lance Franklin vs Jeremy Mcgovern looks like one of the best battles for the year and Elliot Yeo and Luke Parker another mouth water dual. The Eagles can win this game if their small forwards led by Willie Rioli and Liam Ryan get on top and open the game. The Swans will win if they suffocate the Eagles and not let them dictate the game with their marking and kicking game. Tipping the Swans in a game that could be very close like the old rivalry of 2005-2006

Collingwood Pies vs Melbourne Demons
June 10th (Monday 3.20pm) MCG
The Pies last weekend had themselves to blame for losing a game they were expected to win. They led all day until the final moments where Michael Walters popped up and kicked a match winning goal for the Dockers. Jordan De Goey needs to settle himself in big moments of games as he kicked to a horrible position when the game was on the line. The Pies have also lost Dayne Beams for the rest of the year as he has hip surgery. That is a big blow for a Pies side that love his midfield direction. The Demons like the Pies last weekend blew a lead and then lost the game in the final moments vs the Crows. They welcome back Jake Lever from ACL and Steven May from a groin injury. It will be a close game on Monday but the Pies will want this game more and will win in a tight contest.
