Round 10
Sydney Swans vs Collingwood Magpies
May 24th (Friday 7.50pm) SCG
Indigenous round starts with a cracker. These two teams played a thriller last year and it came down to the last kick of the game. The Swans were very tough last week vs the Kangas in Tasmania. They welcome back their best player in Lance Franklin and with it being Indigenous round I expect him to come out firing having missed the last 4 weeks with a hamstring injury. The Pies welcome back Wells but lose Varcoe and Langdon who will be sorely missed because Varcoe adds that run and Langdon adds the polish in the back line. De Goey again misses with a back injury. SCG will play into the Swans hands with the smaller ground suiting them. Expect a big performance from Heeney and Josh Kennendy is also back for the Swans. Swans will win this in a thriller.
H2H
Swans have won 3 of the past 5 games vs the Pies
Best Bet
Swans win $2.65
Swans +14.5 $1.87
Hawthorn Hawks vs Port Adelaide Power
May 25th (Saturday 1.45pm) UTAS
Hawks return to their second home in Tasmania they love playing here and have had great success at this venue. They will want to improve on the last time they played here when Carlton pushed them the distance and if a few decisions went thier way they would of won. The Hawks lose Mcevoy through an ankle injury but welcome back Frawley and Wingard who will love playing against his old side. Port had an easy game last week vs the Suns and with a win this weekend can cement themselves in the top 8. They welcome back Robbie Gray and Tom Jonas from injury but lose their ruckman in Scott Lycett who has hurt his groin. It is meant to be raining in Tassie and they will play into the Powers hands. I am tipping the Power with the line and to win in a very tough contest.
H2H
Hawks have won 3 of the past 5 games vs the Power
Best Bet
Port win $2.05
Port 1-39 $2.55
Western Bulldogs vs North Melbourne Kangaroos
May 25th (Saturday 2.10pm) Marvel Stadium
Two teams that have had up and down seasons. One weekend the Bulldogs look like threatening the top 8 the next week it looks like they should be playing in the AFL. Same is said for the Kangaroos last week vs the Swans they let them kick 5 unanswered goals then decided late in the game to start playing well and nearly pinched the victory. This game could go both ways. The Dogs have made 4 changes and made a big statement dropping Gowers, Hayes and flag hero Roberts for Dale, Enligh and Williams. The Kangas have dropped Garner who has struggled with form and injury. If the Bulldogs bring the energy and running game they brought in the early rounds they will win this game. Kangas need to start well and not let their foot off the gas at all times of the game. Kangas to cause a small upset and win.
H2H
Bulldogs have won 4 of the last 5 games vs the Kangaroos
Best Bet
Kangaroos win $2.25
Kangaroos +6.5 $1.90
Adelaide Crows vs West Coast Eagles
May 25th (Saturday 4.35pm) Adelaide Oval
Match of the round is in Adelaide this weekend for two teams that are fighting for a top 4 finish. The Eagles have an impressive record at Adelaide oval winning 7 out of 9 games there. The two loses they have had at this ground have been by the Crows. Adam Simpson said through the week that record stands for nothing this weekend. The Eagles lose two valuable players with Hickey out injured and Jetta out through suspension. They’ve looked good in patches the Eagles but if they are to win this weekend they will need a 4qtr effort. The Crows on the other hand will be kicking themselves last weekend that they didn’t get the 4 points always a yard behind the Lions last weekend. They as well need a 4qtr effort if they are to beat the Eagles. Expecting it to be close but home ground advantage should get the Crows over the line. Weather is meant to be raining as well that will eliminate the Eagles marking game.
H2H
Crows have won 3 of the last 5 games vs the Eagles
Best Bet
Crows win $1.60
Gold Coast Suns Vs Geelong Cats
May 25th (Saturday 7.25pm) Metricon Stadium
Saturday night footy heads to the sunshine state with Suns hosting the Cats. They are also welcoming Gary Ablett for the first time since he left them at the end of season 2017. He might be booed a few times but he gave his all for the Suns and any boos will be sounded out by cheers. I think it is going to be a tough night for the Suns even though Dangerfield is out they will find it hard to kick a score against a Geelong side that look unbeatable at this stage of the season. The Suns lose their best defender in Collins and that will make it a lot harder to combat Tom Hawkins. If the Suns are to win this game or even go close they need to start well. They can’t let the Cats get a 5 goal head start because then it’s game over. Will be an interesting game with the return of Ablett but I think it will be an easy win for the Cats.
H2H
Cats have won 4 of the last 5 games vs the Suns
Best Bet
Cats +40 $2.10
Richmond Tigers vs Essendon Bombers
May 25th (Saturday 7.25pm) MCG
Dream time at the G looked like it was going to be a great game but injury has run its course with the Bombers this week. They’ve lost arguably two of their most important players for the season in Smith and Daniher. While the Tigers look back to their 2017 form even without their stars. The Tigers welcome back Daniel Rioli who will love playing in the Dream time game. The Dons have rushed back McKernan to fill in the gap left by Daniher, he has played well when under pressure and the Dons will pray he can kick a few goals. The game will be won in the middle with both midfields dominating the Dons might need to tag Dustin Martin as he has had two best on ground games in the past 3 weeks. Tipping a Tigers win but if the Dons can settle the ship early they will give themselves a chance. Big week for Jake Stringer.
H2H
Tigers have won the past 5 games vs the Bombers
Best Bet
Tigers -15.5 $1.90
Melbourne Demons vs Greater Western Sydney
May 26th (Sunday 1.10pm) MCG
The Demons will be kicking themselves last weekend that they didn’t beat the Eagles in Perth last weekend due to a few errors and a lack of confidence. If the Demons bring the energy and running game they brought in Perth they will go along way to beating the Giants at the MCG. The Giants will want to win this game because they have been blasted in the media that they don’t play well at the MCG. The Giants have a horrible record at the MCG and if they want to be feared in the AFL they will need to win at the home of football. The Giants had a training run vs the Blues last weekend so all players should be fresh. The Giants welcome back Conigilo but lose hard running defender Zac Williams. The Demons welcome back Jordan Lewis and big Preuss to ruck with Max Gawn. I am tipping the Giants to break the hoodooo.
H2H
Demons have won 3 of the last 5 games vs the Giants
Best Bet
Giants -12.5 $1.90
Giants 1-39 $2.15
St Kilda Saints vs Carlton Blues
May 26th (Sunday 3.20pm) Marvel Stadium
Sunday couldn’t come quick enough for Brendan Bolton and his Carlton side. They were belted last week vs the Giants and the media has said that Bolton should be sacked. The players need to stand up for their coach they have played horribly in the last few weeks so they need to stand up for him. The Saints, on the other hand were in the game last week vs the Pies but in the last qtr were belted and lost by 40 points, so much for a side that said they will make the top 8. Ben Long and Billy Longer are back for the Saints named on an extended bench. The Blues welcome back Simpson, Plowman and Fasolo named on an extended bench but lose Marc Murphy who has broken ribs from the hit of Shane Mumford. The Saints should win this but football is a strange game.
H2H
Saints have won 4 of the last 5 games vs the Blues

Saints 15.5 $1.90
Saints +40 $3.45
Fremantle Dockers vs Brisbane Lions
May 26th (Sunday 3.20pm) Optus Stadium
Round 10 ends in the West and this game should be a cracker. Two teams who are in a fight for the top 8 and a win here can really set up their season. The Lions last weekend were great vs the Crows and held on for a hard fought 1 point win. The Dockers should have beaten the Bombers if it wasn’t for a few missed shots and horrible decisions when going forward. The Dockers will love the home ground advantage and will boo Lachie Neale all day who left the club last year for the Lions in the trade period. The Lions have brought back Luke Hodge and Lewis Taylor who will ad direction and speed. Cam Mccarthy is back for the Dockers but they lose Matt Taberner who has a stress fracture in his foot. I am tipping the Dockers just because of the home ground advantage.
H2H
Dockers have won 3 of the last 5 games vs the Lions
Best Bet
Dockers win $1.73
Dockers -4.5 $1.90
